Doopher wrote:You're so right, FairPlay. Vanessa loves Youtube because it is quite literally The Vanessa Show. You're right on when you say Lily is her project and brand. And I know that I and so many other people have said this but yeah, Vanessa is so fake with Lily. It's difficult to explain but the way she talks to Lily feels FAKE and forced. I wish I knew how to explain it better. And her ridiculous fake laugh, I can't think of any way to explain it other than a less scratchy version of the marge simpson laugh. She does it all the time. I think that Vanessa is so hyperaware of everything she does because she's trying to look good on camera, that she doesn't even know how to act natural anymore. I wonder if it ever bothers David, you know? I feel like he acts pretty natural.
I was watching her latest vlog "lily goes swimming" and my fiancé starts watching with me and he says "it seems like she's fake having fun with her daughter. I nearly died. Even my fiancé that has never even seen a video of this girl can see her fake happiness with her daughter. So sad!
BaHahahah omg your fiancé wins!
Can the new thread title be 2011teenagerFaker once we reach 40 pages please hahah
It's one thing to film the pool area, but I would never whip out my camera in the locker or changing area. There's a part in the vlog where she's asking Lilly if she liked swimming and then starts talking about the swimsuit dryer... That looked like a locker and/or changing area. I would be so mad if someone got their camera out.
No, I'm pretty sure she's at the goldfish swim school. I'm pretty sure it's a franchise and I've been to one by me. It looks the same. But yeah, they have the suit dryers out in the open. The changing rooms are like individual changing rooms with a door you can lock. They have the suit dryers and hair dryers out in the open.
I think even Vanessa wouldn't film in a real locker room. They have strict rules. I was texting once on my phone at my gym and a worker told me to put it away or go out of the locker room to text.
I thought the same thing when she was recording in the changing area. I would be scared to pull out a camera in there just because what people may think.
There is a time & place for recording. It's not in the changing area where little kids change!
Also I agree with filming the swim lesson. It didn't show anyone's faces but if your a mom here, how would you feel if someone took video of your kids swim lesson & then posted it online? Without your permission? I would be pissed. Because as a mom I want to protect my kids. I'm sure other moms here agree.
Back in the day it was different because people use to film for home videos. But with social media and internet these days, filming has gone to far & it's making it easier for pervs!
I also feel when she vlogs in public she does it so loud & obvious because she wants people to think she's some famous vlogger or to ask her. Am I the only one who thinks this?
I'm actually impressed she didn't film any other kids. I think V and Lily's relationship is normal. Not every parent is gushy and lovey on their kids 24/7 and I think that's perfectly fine.

Agree, they have a normal bond. Kids who are overly clingy have insecure attachments to their parents. Kids who will willingly go with the swim instructors for example, are kids with secure attachments.

I only saw her new swimming video and found it funny that she was so quick to sign her up for lessons but how long has it taken her to get a normal dance class?
That aside I hate when V blogs driving. You can tell she's a new driver because she wants to show it off which I understand to a degree but enough we get it you drive. Yeah same goes for the singing. Just stop. I can't hear it.
I'm happy she's put Lily in more activities. Lily seems to enjoy them which is great!
I feel like Vanessa wanted to play hero with lily while she was pregnant, then when it came to parenting the child it was a wake up to her. In her draw my life she talks about the doctors suggesting she have an abortion and seems to think very high and mighty of herself for carrying the pregnancy to term and choosing to have Lily. (Which is cool, obviously 100% her call) but I think the reality of parenting a child, especially a child who is different, was not quite what she had been expecting. I don't doubt she loves Lily very much but the reality of parenting seems to have been difficult for her.
I agree, queenofhearts.
But to be fair I don't think she knew how hard it really was gonna be, I don't think anyone really understands how hard it is unless you are in her shoes. She was obviously very immature, and it definitely showed in her early videos.
Obviously, lily isn't opposed to hair accessories. She put a head band on herself in the last video...
Soooo can we stop with the Lily hates things in her hair argument?

As I said, she's much better with them now. V just posted a pic on instagram with her wearing a flower headband, super cute!

Ugh so showing your kid affection all of the time makes them clingy? And of course she would go willingly to the swim instructor... Vanessa has been pawning her off to other people for a long time.

What I said is correct. Study up on attachment theory. Your interpretation of what I said is incorrect. Showing your kid affection all the time makes a secure attachment. There are many, many factors involved in creating a child with an insecure attachment. I don't consider a grandparent babysitting as "pawning her off". Vanessa and Lily lived together with her mother for 2 years. She was hardly pawned off all the time. Another horse beaten to death.

Ugh. Lifespan Development. Yeah, we've all taken the class. Just because you read a chapter in a textbook doesn't make anyone an expert on parent/child relationships. You don't have to be a professional child psychologist to make an observation on this site. Who knows what's normal or not but you've got to admit that sometimes Vanessa DOES seem like she's just playing pretend parent for the camera. She doesn't seem authentic, ya know?
