Katie and Cullen are losing income from this because they can't manage to post more than a couple of videos a week. It looks like they are cutting their own income by half. This makes zero sense in their financial situation.

I will say I didn't make it through two minutes of their last video because Katie has zero credibility as a therapist.

I know! She renewed her license sometime last year. I wonder if her "I don't need to get an outside job" is just her covering up for not being able to get hired. Anyone looking to hire a child psychologist would likely Google her. And it takes one look at her Instagram account and the vlogs to see just how much she practices what she preaches, and the obvious drunken posts at her age don't look good. One of the first things job hunting websites say about social media is that you shouldn't have posts of yourself drunk or behaving irresponsibly on public pages. And she's not old, but she's not 22 anymore either. I wonder if she tried to find work and nobody would hire her. Not only has she been out of the field for a while, she has videos and Instagram posts of herself ignoring basic tenets of child psychology and turning Gaines into a spoiled brat who won't eat anything except pizza, chicken nuggets and cheesy noodles, and scapegoating poor Brooks who doesn't seem "wild" at all, but a sweet, normal 3 year old who just wants his mother to love him. And anyone who even offers constructive criticism either gets salty response (which doesn't bode well for an employer) or just gets deleted
As a parent, I certainly wouldn't turn to her to help with any issues my children had, and as a prospective manager, her social media is filled with red flags.

Yikes. I’m not that far into their livestream but...

It sounds like they cannot handle being parents at all. Their kids don’t fit in with whatever daily routine they have set up for themselves. That’s the real problem.

What’s happening in the world is heartbreaking. It’s beyond what anyone could fathom. It’s sickening and killing people all over the world. Doctors and nurses are risking their lives everyday to save people. All of the grocery store workers, delivery drives, restaurant owners, they are risking their health to serve everyone in this country.

But they are crying over not being able to show their house and the fact that their kids are home. With the position they are in, the only thing that’s changed for them is that their children are home with them. That is it. For some reason, that’s very emotionally distressing for them.

They are coming off really selfish and should probably not be doing this livestream right now.

Edited to add: Cullen thinks it’s “one of those god things” that they just spent a $100 or $200 Brio gift card on a date night since it just closed down indefinitely. They are so unaware.

Why don’t they focus on making individual videos, or show different activities they are doing with the kids? Organize and purge videos, they surely have more crap to get rid of. Create workbooks or coloring books for the kids and show how. Create a daily schedule for the kids and show implementing it. Cook With the kids to get them to try new things. If they put some effort they could easily do their job from home. Get the kids on a good schedule so they are in bed by 7 and 7:30 then edit then.

Seriously, they aren’t high risk individuals. Why does Cullen deliver for Amazon. Katie can do a series on guiding children through this time since she’s a licensed child psychologist. Show the activities they are doing with their kids. There’s a lot of content they could generate from this. I’m betting as revenue has taken another severe drop and that’s why they are so upset. But we’ve all been saying it for years YT income is inconsistent and not dependable at best. And now they are freaking out.

Seriously, getting work done with kids at home is not that hard it's called prioritizing. I am getting so tired of all of these yt parents complaining that their kids can't be in daycare all day. I know women who are now trying to homeschool their grade school kids and actually work from home.

If she really gets up at 5 a.m it shouldn't be that hard. She could answer emails before the kids get up or after they go to bed. There are two of them! Take turns with the kids! The kids nap still for crying out loud. I have no sympathy for these stupid free loaders.

Im into day 3 of being home on lockdown (New Zealand - officially started midnight this morning, but we started as soon as school was let out). I have three children (8-12) whom are still doing school work and I’m continuing to work from home as I work in an essential service (medical) and I need to keep up with communication between my boss, administration, our clients and our nurses.

I worked 8am-5.45pm today in front of a computer that was hastily set up in my bedroom - while facilitating school work, making sure they were on task and not skiving off, making sure they didnt eat the contents of the pantry and I even cooked from scratch spaghetti Alfredo (not from a can!) and had it on the table by 6.05!

They only need to spare one hour max to film a sit down vlog “edit it” and upload it. I still managed to check social media, the news and listen to the prime ministers briefing at 3pm between and during my work, so having kids home is no excuse not to reply to emails or manage your social media. You can do that from a couch in your pj’s!

They are lazy and are going to completely take advantage of covid-19 and claim it was the real reason for their financial problems. Sorry Katie and Cullen - you cant pull the wool over our eyes!

Katie needs to say "no" to Gaines and let her wait for 30 min until she finished an email or other business on the computer. Okay if you can't switch from one task to another (maybe her ADD) but why haven't they figured out by now a way to work around this and let Cullen take care of the kids when Katie does business on the computer or whatever it is that she wants to do. And Gaines needs to be capable to play on her own. Grab your life learning moment to -finally- teach her that. I also don't believe for one second Katie means Brooks when she says taking care "emotionally" of "the kids". And why put it so dramatically with "emotion" to begin with, I'm not quite sure? Just say "taking care of the kids". Who says taking care of the kids psychologically/mentally/emotionally? Or did something happen?

Did you catch that Cullen wasn't allowed to tell something (in context of visitors for the house) and Cullen asked her permission first?

If you miss structure then try to CREATE it for the four of you and set up a schedule with stimulating school tasks the kids, in particular Gaines, can do. With questions and needs they can turn to Cullen, and Katie can do her business for a set hour. Gaines has her schoolwork room already, let her use it and be more strict to her, though I know the latter will never happen. Too strict on Brooks on the other hand...she doesn't seem to have a problem with. And stop pushing Brooks to go in the swing every morning if he doesn't want to, as a ridiculous remedy you came up with quite honestly. It means all the more he doesn't need it. I can't stand the thought it's even traumatizing if forced upon him while not needing it and making him feel powerless to set his boundaries, violating his self-efficacy, the quintessence of trauma, hello? If he needs it he can and will go on his own, any time of day.

Katie had shown those kids playing games on their iPads several times since this all started. Are you telling my the kids won't sit and watch a movie or play on a tablet for 30 minutes so she can answer an email?

There are TWO of them! It's not rocket science!

What are they crying about, having a giant mansion to live in stocked with food and clothes and the ability to work from home? Give me a break! Some of us are dealing with worse circumstances and still are not complaining because it could be worse!

If your kids miss the structure create the structure Katie! Dear God, woman you earned a PhD in child psychology! Make a schedule, write it all down and hang it in the kitchen! Wake up at the same time get the kids dressed make them breakfast. Then have them sit and occupy themselves with coloring or play doh for an hour.

My 4 and 2 year old sit quietly coloring or playing with kinetic sand for 45 minutes to an hour every morning! If her kids can't entertain themselves then they need to make some serious changes. I honestly think the issue is the kids fight when left alone.

Here in Ohio all of our daycares can now only have 6 children per room and healthcare workers are chosen for those spots first to ensure their children are cared for while they work. I know so many women who now have to either work from home or risk losing their job to take time off because they cannot work from home. These two need to find some perspective.

Oh my GOD I can’t with their inability to deal. I’m working from home with my 6-month-old. I consider our family incredibly lucky. I think about the people who are furloughed, or losing income from otherwise reliable jobs. People in hospitality and events who are about to be furloughed. People in healthcare who are working overtime and coming in direct contact with the virus. People who don’t have the option to work from home, either because they won’t get paid or because they are essential. People in places like NYC where the morgues and hospitals are about to be at capacity. And these two have the audacity to complain about being home together for a couple weeks with their 3-year-old and 5-year-old?

It’s not like they are dealing with a baby who needs constant engagement, or school-aged children who need help with schoolwork. When I am home alone with my baby and working full-time, I make it work because I have to. It’s not ideal and it’s stressful, but you deal. I am nursing or bouncing or playing with a baby while I try to read contracts, answer emails, pull reports, etc. My employer understands that I’m doing the bare minimum to keep things operational and not much else right now. And honestly the silver lining to me is that I love spending time with her and cherish it.

The only reason I’m even able to write this is because I am lucky enough to have my husband home this week to provide childcare, and it’s a dream. They ALWAYS have two parents at home! There’s no reason why one parent can’t concentrate on work while the other concentrates on the kids, and they trade back and forth as needed. My husband and I have been doing this and aside from the stress of current events, it’s the best schedule and dynamic we’ve had because we’re getting so much time together with our daughter and no commute. We go for walks when I close my computer for the day, we can start dinner early, I can play with my daughter on breaks, etc. I wish I had Katie and Cullen’s flexibility all the time.

If they’re “not the kind of people who can do that” because it’s so “draining” then what the hell were they thinking having kids in the first place? Did they not realize that they would actually need to parent while continuing to take care of the same responsibilities that they had pre-kids? Honestly, Katie and Cullen should feel guilty. They need real therapy if it can help them understand why they're so immature and irresponsible, not just self-help mumbo-jumbo.

Now, I understand the stress of having a house you can’t afford that you can’t sell. This is why people try to make smart financial decisions in the first place. They basically admitted in this live stream that they're going to miss a mortgage payment again if they don't continue showing the house and get it sold. But there's no reason they can't work in their current situation.

These two are pathetic. Yes, this is a hard time, if you're that stressed about money, one of you can go out and get one of the thousands of jobs available at walmart or a grocery store.

These kids (well, Gaines) run that house don't they. I run an in home daycare, I take care of 6 kids plus get laundry done and get descent meals made. You have to be the boss and tell the kids what they will be doing, not the other way around.

I am not even going to bother watching their bitch fest video. Seriously, they need to grow up and take charge. How many people have told them exactly what they need to do to make their house run smoother? They choose not too. They are the typical couple who complains but do nothing to change. They are just looking for everyone else to do it for them. I have known plenty of people like that, hell, I have gotten sucked in and tried to help people like them and it was FRUSTRATING! Always complaining, always asking for help and never listening. Not to me, not to other, not even doctors and therapists. I finally had to break off those relationships.

My niece and nephew are home with their dad. He works at home all but one week. On the day he goes out of town my sister makes the kids go to her work. She is still working because she works for a house builder. They sit and do their school work while there. How can two people who work from home not be able to handle their kids.

If YT people have filed taxes they will get a stimulus check if their incomes are under a certain amount. With these two though if they have unpaid taxes I imagine they won’t.

Their income wasn't covering their spending for at least the past two years. And they've had the house on the market for 8 months. They were $100k in the hole in January But now they're saying they can't get employment because of Corona virus. Sure, if you wait long enough I guess you can use a pandemic and a global recession to justify your unwillingness to take care of your shit.

I can't listen to them claiming they paid off 20k of debt in only two months. Bull crap, 17k of that was getting current on all of their bills. Then most of that money came from selling the golf cart and other big ticket items plus the savings account her parents let them cash out. But they really think that they have worked hard to get current. They are so unbelievably delusional and they think doing the bare minimum with their yt channel is working hard.

I had to do a zoom video chat with my classmates and professor and my 2 year old sat with me while my 4 year old colored. Was it frustrating at times yes. But everyone was understanding and it had to be done! These two weren't doing anything a year ago that it why they cannot handle parenting their own children.

This time last year they were still paying Micah to edit, had a housekeeper, kids in school and aftercare, then they had a babysitter as well. Had their groceries delivered to their house and Katie was shopping all day everyday. Plus they ordered take out for almost every meal. They have never learned how to balance the demands of working from home and having two kids.
