Re: This is how we Bingham | Part 3
I think Madi is old enough that she has probably communicated by this point that she likes her privacy and doesn't need every part of her Bingham life broadcasted. I looked up the brand of the boots Madi got and it looks like they could have been $150-$200 so maybe the boots were a bigger deal than it seems. https://www.ariat.com/women-western-footwear I wasn't able to find the exact ones.

Never said anyone hates anyone in this family. Don't think anyone else did either. And I admitted that I could be projecting because of my daughter's experiences. Sorry, but with the way Mindy's parents throw cash at their blood grandchildren, a little of that should go towards Madi. Mindy likes to make like she's just like a real daughter, when she's not gushing over how having Hazy "completed" her, so they can't have it both ways. Either she's really a part of the family, like they like to say she is, or she's very much a stepchild, with the emphasis on "step". I could be more forgiving if they hadn't known her 14 years. And maybe I'm projecting, because although my ex-husband's wife's family treats my daughter well, she herself is evil stepmother incarnate. All she needs is a poison apple. So I know how much it can hurt. And it's not even about the presents themselves, really. Because Madi isn't a spoiled girl (neither is my daughter-- she refers to her step siblings as brothers and sister, without adding "step"). But Mindy and Branden have called Madi a stepsister, when she isn't. She is their kids half sister.
Like I said before, I don’t think anyone hates anyone. I’d just wager to guess her parents got Madi a gift card or something small, and since Madi isn’t there when the grandparents are, the gift is just not shown on camera. Although I’d also guess it’s not as much as all the other kids gifts, but I’m sure it’s something. I’m also guessing B&M probably just give Madi gift cards or cash so that she doesn’t have to stuff her suitcase with gifts. Or they just ship directly to her. Let’s hope at least!
Branden did mention in a q&a or something that he never heard of the term “half-sister” before because I guess people were telling him he was wrong in comments when he had mentioned Madi as a step-sister. I think he’s just uneducated in that sense, perhaps.
Branden is an idiot, but I find it hard to believe he never heard of half-siblings.
On the rest, agree to disagree. I don't think any of us are going to convince each other we're completely wrong. It could be a little of both sides being right as well-- that there is favoritism, but not as bad as some of us believe.
Edit: Ariat boots are very nice. Does Madi ride? Because Ariat boots are often actual riding boots (as opposed to riding style boots you get at Macy's)

Re: This is how we Bingham | Part 3
Are they getting lots of views on these TWO HOUR rehashing of old vacation vlogs?
Because I just have no interest in watching 2 hours of the Binghams doing _anything_, much less running around yelling and acting as though they are oh so special, epic and savage, (actually "savage", I buy-- but more along the lines of "Lord of the Flies") and trying to get away with breaking the rules. Petting manatees (protected wildlife), flying the drone over the ship, and taking Hazy in the hot tub (or just the footage of her whining about how she wanted to go) are all obnoxious examples of their idea of "fun".

Also, part of her 'present' might be Branden helping her with college, which is coming up. I was watching older videos yesterday, one where Krew (my fav kid) broke his collarbone. Mostly Mindy in it and Krew, and Branden was still at his job. He seemed different, just wanting to be with his kids. That I DO like, even though I could complain about him in nearly every video about being an attention hog and talking too much. Then on one of Mindy's cooking vids, he came on and said how he knew he talked over her too much and she just rolled her eyes. I loved it. She gets off some good burns at him once in a while.

Re: This is how we Bingham | Part 3
College isn't a Christmas present. Either you're helping your kids (which I believe if you can, you should) or you're not. That's kinda like buying a refrigerator for the "little woman" for Christmas. But I said I would agree to disagree, so I will shut up.Desert_Princess wrote:Also, part of her 'present' might be Branden helping her with college, which is coming up. Moving on: I like the older videos better. When Branden was still working, and the videos really were mostly just for fun. Although they still exploited those injuries! I mean, who thinks of filming when you break your leg? But once Branden quit his job, and they became dependent on the vlogs for income, like so many others, the clickbait started, and they got more materialistic (or just let that side of themselves show), and they get louder and more obnoxious, and all attempts at being relatable go out the window.
I understand that it was hard for Mindy when Branden traveled, and it would suck to be taking care of the kids by herself while he was off in Tahiti or wherever, but quitting completely wasn't the best idea. And now with COPPA coming into effect in a few days, to go crazy at Christmas as usual isn't smart either.

Re: This is how we Bingham | Part 3
I agree that college is not a Christmas gift hahah. Maybe part of her gift was the flight to Utah, which is also kind of lame. But I think the boots were enough.
I will say that Madi is VERY patient. She plays with Hazy constantly and puts up with the camera in her face. I feel like she probably feels like she's treated like a kid still when she goes to Utah. It's good that she has such a good relationship with her little siblings though. Her bedroom is so nice, seems like kind of a waste for someone who is there 12 days a year.

The Holland Christmas vlog was lovely. Plentiful gifts, but not to the level of avarice like Branden's bunch. Happy, grateful children who have genuine appreciation for what they are receiving. It is so nice. Turin seems to be a fantastic kid. What a sweetheart.

Wow. I guess it's ok because everyone in Utah has weird names-- just look at the cousins, Krew and Brexit, I mean Brexsin. So they won't be made fun of.

Krew is actually a quite popular boy’s name at the moment. Bryce Harper of the Philadelphia Phillies four month old son is named Krew.lmmomSD wrote:Turin?Uncle_Deadly wrote:The Holland Christmas vlog was lovely. Re: This is how we Bingham | Part 3
Total OT tangent, but it's interesting to me the way names go in cycles. And the effect social media has had. I'm thinking about the nursing homes in about 50 years filled with Savannahs, Dakotas, and Laurens and Jacobs and Ethans; and 20 years after that, all the UnIQue names are going to start to trickle in. There are celebrities and pseudo-celebrities naming their kids some weird stuff, and then people see it on social media and say "OMG! That's totes adorbzzz!" Or whatever they say these days, and name their kids that too. Jason Aldean just named his daughter Navy. Maybe I just think it's weird because my whole family was IN the Navy. And don't get me started on Kulture, Ya'Majesty, Messiah, and North West.
And actually, one thing that I think is cool about all the "unique" names, is that if a lot of kids have "weird" names, people are less likely to make fun. And I am all for less bullying, despite what YTers may think of my presence here.

The worst celebrity Childs names I’ve heard are Pilot Inspektor (James Lee’s 16 year old son) and Apple (Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter). Talk about horrible. Talulah is actually a popular name here in NJ. We have a large Native American population in this area. My friend’s step-daughter is named Talulah. Her mother was Native American and named her daughter that in honor of their heritage.nahthxx wrote:Im a teacher on the west coast and I used to live in south I went from having “Ella Kate” and “Mary Lee” and every other combination of old southern names to more hippy names “Starr” “Moon” “Talulah” “Lavender”...names are something elsePirateWench8 wrote:The worst celebrity Childs names I’ve heard are Pilot Inspektor (James Lee’s 16 year old son) and Apple (Gwyneth Paltrow’s daughter). Re: This is how we Bingham | Part 3
My daughter's name is very popular in her age group. But I didn't plan it that way! When I was pregnant, we were living on the east coast, and I didn't know anyone who named their child what we chose. Then we moved to the west coast, and every little girl we met had her name! One neighbor girl even had the same middle name, and same birthday, 5 years prior!
Sorry for the tangent.

They explained their kids names in a vlog once and Turin comes from when the dad did his missionary work in Italy.

Awwww I just watched the Holland family’s Christmas vlog. Justin’s family just melts me. They’re such sweet appreciative kids. Turin got an iPhone 11 for Christmas and he was in shock. He had actually asked for Justin’s hand me down phone. He didn’t ask for a brand new iPhone 11. He said “I can’t have a better phone than you”! Such a sweet kid.
