Re: Samika? Part 1
Did anyone else get excited when Jenn mentioned how her and Sam are planning a trip alone in May?? I think they deserve it so much and it'll be great for them! I love their cute little kids but I think they deserve this alone time. They really make their kids their top priority, which is refreshing to see on YT.

Re: Samika? Part 1
I love that they're getting time alone. Sam was super excited about the date he'd planned while they were in Chicago and they had to cancel. It's kinda crazy that they haven't spent an night way from their kids. I hope they're able to do it more. Alot of the other vloggers don't seem to appreciate how much help they have.
Re: Samika? Part 1
Heard they did a live stream last night and got people to donate to their house fund . What is it with youtubers begging random strangers to help fund their home? Why not get a second job if you need money. Seems unethical to me. I appreciate they put their lives out there but they are the ones who decided to do youtube full time and leave their jobs. I like them because they seem like honest people but this has rubbed me up the wrong way!
Did anyone watch the live stream? How did they approach the viewers?

I didn't see it, but according to when it was supposed to go live it was really, really late - like almost midnight ET.pattys wrote:Heard they did a live stream last night and got people to donate to their house fund . It is too bad that they are asking for money from viewers. I do like them, but I think they getting a bit more money-hungry...and I think they are a bit jealous of Ellie and Jared and the other successful family vloggers who are rolling in cash these days. It's unfortunate to see all the brand deals and "begging" for money, but I think that's just how YTers operate these days. It's all about money, buying fancy new things and showing off. Kind of sad.
I wonder if their "date" with E&J was actually to ask advice about how to make more money??? I did notice their "dream house" sounded a lot like the house E&J just had built.

Re: Samika? Part 1
They didn't ask for donations. Sam turned on superchat not fully understanding how it worked. When people started donating, he said he felt bad and would put the money toward the house. They never asked for money and were very grateful for the money they collected.

Well, he had to manually go and turn SuperChat's functionality on in the settings and YT is his job...he totally knew what he was doing. It's not like it was an accident.Lovethesnark wrote:They didn't ask for donations. Sam turned on superchat not fully understanding how it worked. Re: Samika? Part 1
I don't mind the brand deals so much with these two, because they do them so cleverly, and really put thought and effort into them. Not like the 80 million "Best Fiends" ones that are so awful.
But YouTubers collecting money from live streaming is just skeevy. If they do it again without making sure the donation setting is off, I will seriously side eye it. I don't understand why people send stuff to YouTubers anyway. Bratayley has been doing Live.lys and accepting money from fans, and that really, really makes me angry. Their fan base is pretty much 8-12 year olds who have to ask their parents for money, and ostensibly most of those parents work very hard to make a lot less than the YouTubers their kids are giving money to. The only exception to the sending things being weird that I can think of is Roman Atwood. People send him art work that says "Smile More" on it, that they have done, and he puts it up in his "store". I like his merch too, because if you don't watch his vlogs, you can still understand it. It just says "Smile More". I can get behind that. My daughter is always coming across things and wanting to send them to a YouTuber, and she's got a big heart, but Noah doesn't need a Storm Trooper coloring book from us, and Roman Atwood can buy his own Swedish Fish.
Sorry- struck a nerve. Pet peeve of mine, when I am working hard to better our lives, and I see this kind of stuff, I get riled.

So he can't return the money? If I accidentally did that I would refund everyone. They obviously have no qualms about taking money from people.Lovethesnark wrote:They didn't ask for donations. I'm all good with brand deals as that is part of youtube but happily taking cash from viewers is a no no..

Re: Samika? Part 1
They can't return the money. I think the super chat feature has replaced the fan funding option on Youtube, so this isnt really new. I don't recall them every turning that feature on for their channel. I'd noticed the Nive Nulls and Cullen and Katie had it set up where you could send them money for years. Sam and Jenn have been live streaming here and there for a while, but this is the first time they've turned on super chat. If they do it again, it would annoy me.

Re: Samika? Part 1
Idk, it doesn't annoy me that people sent them money. They don't do it all the time and it's not like they were saying "hey everyone send us money while we livestream!" I would only be kind of iffy if they did it again because they definitely know what superchat is now if they didn't before. Also, I watched the livestream and it seemed to be all fully aware adults knowing they were sending money and writing notes with it late at night, so I doubt it was children and I don't see a problem if people want to send stuff.

Re: Samika? Part 1
Was the fan funding option the blue button on profiles that said "Help our channel grow and produce good content" or something along those lines? If so, I did notice that Samika used to have it; I even noticed it there a few weeks ago. It's gone now and if that's what you meant then that would make sense as to why, since it was replaced.Lovethesnark wrote:They can't return the money. Re: Samika? Part 1
This is OT, but HOLY CRAP...Tyler and Haylee are only just turning 23???!!!??!!
I think that might be why Sam and Jen aren't really close to them anymore...they are literally just kids. Sam is almost 30 and has 2 kids. Tyler and Haylee are bratty jerks. I seriously thought they were more like 25-ish.

Yes, that's how fan funding would appear a channel's page.YouTubeIdiots101 wrote:Was the fan funding option the blue button on profiles that said "Help our channel grow and produce good content" or something along those lines? Wow not gonna lie, I got a little teary eyed when Penelope looked directly into the camera and held it for a few seconds around 2:40. She's got some beautiful, soulful eyes. What a sweet baby.

So Tao's family is moving away anyway, they might as well move to AZ or even elsewhere. Not much keeping them in Utah and I think they would really benefit from being closer to family and support

Also, props to Jenn for repeatedly telling Noah that they're not his presents to open and he'll get to open his birthday presents in July.

Sam also films her so beautifully. His pictures on IG are just so gorgeous. He really knows how to use that DSLR!littlebaby wrote:Wow not gonna lie, I got a little teary eyed when Penelope looked directly into the camera and held it for a few seconds around 2:40. YES, I admired this too. I cannot stand people who bring presents for the siblings of the birthday kid "so they won't feel left out". They've gotta learn that life is unfair, and sometimes people will get things that they don't get. She'll probably tell PJ the same thing when she's older and it's Noah's birthday. Plus if everyone gets a present on everyone's birthday, it's gonna take away from the fact that it's each kid's special day.
