What you would do if you were not scared, can apply in certain areas of life, but it can also be a sign of manic behavior when you can’t find stability in anything! Especially when under your wing you carry three very young children!
They have money but it is not endless and tax is incoming constantly!
Also when you live beyond your means because you rode the high life once it is confusing and difficult to balance when you happiness depends on your next buy or holiday for that matter!
Jared’s attempt to do freelance was probably to maintain more than survive, while still being able to ‘serve’ Ellie at home.
Their home was fine even better than fine, they had family support, a community and the weather was not all year long and they grew up there! People move on for sure but just for a change of scenery with three kids at 30 and no jobs I just see that purely as a vengeful move!

I agree. The thing about the home they just sold is that Ellie cannot continue to spend money on it and has to stick to a budget how boring is that living every day life and not able to buy new things all the time. Ellie hates her everyday life that she had to have. However, with selling it she gets to build all over again and "have fun". She's a child that can't appreciate what she has in front of her.

What would you do if you weren't scared, is not about moving and building a bigger/better new home when you already had one, it's about following dreams. You should be scared about getting too far over your head.

Jared said this interview was about an hour away. Are they not moving 5.5 hours away?? This video was filmed when they were still in their old home. Is he looking for a job that's 4.5 hours away from his new home? I'm confused.

He believes he can do the job remotely from home, so he doesn't think the distance is an issue. My company hires consultants from all over, including overseas, so consultants don't necessarily need to be in the same city.

Maybe they're just updating all at once, but the rapid fire move, closing on their house so quickly, and featuring Jared going on a job interview all within the matter of a week definitely makes this move appear to be financially motivated. I wonder if they couldn't afford the mortgage in Logan. Ellie will always claim it's about "warm weather" or whatever, but it's pretty clear that's not the case.

Oh my GOD, I cannot imagine going to a job interview in a t-shirt and shorts. My husband has been doing video interviews, and he wears a button down and tie, even if he's sitting in his house doing the interview. And not preparing to talk about your resume and experience? Yes, it's a good thing to have a few pieces of advice and a vision for how you can improve whatever department you're looking to join, but I also know that sometimes companies use interviews with "consultants" looking to be brought on full-time as an excuse to farm people for free consulting. They take your good ideas into consideration and never call back. The fact that they had 15 employees on video makes me skeptical for Jared. It sounds like he got duped into participating in a giant brainstorming session for these people. But perhaps this is a "final round" interview, which can have a presentation component and a larger audience, but Jared made this sound like a first interview, saying he was told not to prepare anything.

There's no way Ellie is going to learn how to function with three kids at home, let alone four. Sure, Jared may be working from home during Covid, but if he has clients who are depending on him to meet deadlines, he's not going to be the stay-at-home husband that Ellie has grown accustomed to having.

I don’t know, the fact that they bought land with the intention to build a house kind of makes the situation look different. I have a feeling that Ellie thinks this move, new place, new build, new house - in addition to no more local responsibilities (i.e. Bollie) is going to make her feel healthier and happier. In reality, we all know that’s not going to happen. Honestly, I think that this move and new land and build makes them even more unrelatable.

I wonder how long it’ll take for them to announce that they’re building again.

I haven't been following super closely, so I'm not sure what they've said about building in St. George. My hypothesis is that buying the land and planning to build might be a pipe dream. Maybe they had the cash to buy the land, or somehow secured a loan, but that doesn't necessarily mean it was a smart move financially, or that they can afford to build right away.

I could see Ellie clinging to the hope of building because she can't admit that their lifestyle is about to change. The lifestyle creep was insanely fast for these two, like most YouTubers who were bringing in the big bucks for a relatively short period of time. She needs to have an end goal in mind where she can magically afford everything that they had 4 or 5 years ago. I also think the move to St. George was to mask the financial reasons for the move. She couldn't downsize to a rental in Logan. She also claimed that they always planned to build, even without YouTube. Jared worked retail and she was a hairdresser. So she's seriously disconnected from reality.

I'm not super familiar with hip replacement surgery, but assuming it has a high success rate, I don't think Jared would be wavering if they were truly comfortable financially. I would 100% spend the money if it was a pain and quality of life issue for my husband. $6,000 is not crazy high amount given the amount of pain he is in and their past spending habits. Did they hesitate at the thought of the ER bill to have Ellie's IUD removed in a non-emergency situation, when she couldn't be bothered to wait for a regular appointment with her OBGYN like a normal person?

It was discovered that Jared’s parents had to foreclose on their home when E&J went there to help them clean things out. Ellie’s vile attitude, smugness and lack of sympathy with everyone at the time turned a lot of people off at the time. Most people here were still fans. I think it was the same trip, but Jared’s older sister was also there and definitely didn’t seem fond of Ellie.

Their house wasn’t even thats expensive. Under $200k if I recall. E&J were making $80k a month at the time. They certainly could have helped save the home had they wanted to.

So yeah, it’s unlikely Jared will be getting sound financial advice from his dad. I doubt they have any retirement savings also. Jared needs to be saving A LOT to keep up with Ellie’s spending for the rest of their lives. If they make $200k a year between Bollie and YT, they need to be saving half that. They are looking at a far earlier income dip and retirement than most people and need to be prepared (even if shared continues to find side gigs he’s unlikely to bring in YT money).

Ah, so he would be driving to the client site to film occasionally. They may be willing to reimburse him for travel. Probably not something I'd want to be doing more than a couple times a year, so if he's looking at traveling roughly 4.5 hours each way on, say, a monthly basis, that doesn't sound like a good time to me, but I suppose it's doable. If it weren't for Covid, I'd suggest he look into starting a wedding videography business. Of course that would mean working weekends, so Ellie may have already nixed that idea.

It is unbelievable if Ellie ends up pregnant. Jared holding off on surgery due to the expense--last time I checked, labor and delivery is not free. Taking care of himself is for the wellbeing of the entire family. How selfish of Ellie if now is the time to get pregnant.

I felt Jared's parents were doing just so-so. They likely don't own the house they are in after they foreclosed on a previous house. I also remember thinking back when I watched a vlog when Jared's dad had surgery, he was holding on for Medicare to have this done since he just had turned 65. I am guessing Social Security is iffy for his parents too since Jared's mom didn't work and I don't know how Jared's dad did with Social Security contribution over the years based on the business net earnings. I doubt they have retirement savings either.

Can't remember if Julie was in the house, but it was noted she had taken the kids to Ellie's while the others stayed back to clean up the mold and Bonnie delegated and filmed.

If they are building in a builders community, usually have to pay about 10% down before they will start (what we had to do) and if they back out of it, that money is lost. If custom build, I would think they have to pay same or more up front, a commitment that they will see it to the end and builder is not building something that will be hard to unload on someone else.

What grinds with me is, yes we all know there is a delay in posting but don’t go to insta and pretend it is now just to advertise the vlog it sounds stupid! Jared saying they are packing and moving when we can see from Ellie’s insta they have long gone! Just feels like lying!
