I know I said I was going to shut up. But I just have one small but important point.
_Nobody_ that I saw said rich/well.to do people don't have problems or a right to discuss the ones they have. Parenting small children is hard, no matter how much money you have. Trying to keep a marriage together can be hard. And although I know I am dismissive of vlogging as a career, I am sure that trying to keep subscribers engaged every day can be stressful. What lost my sympathy (and I think other people's) is when they were listing their stressors and included going to a free beach house, and flying out to California without the kids, to drink and jump into B& M's new pool, and planning fancy birthday parties for the kids. _Those_ are first world problems. Not parenting, or having marital struggles or dealing with an addicted sister (even though that's not common knowledge). I just wanted to make that clear, because it seems like a lot of people think there's some reverse snobbery going on here.

I think they have a lot going on they haven't mentioned (and that's fine if they want to keep it private)
and there is more to it than just not feeling it and there just using it as a cover up

I think Katie had or is suffering from PND her KOTFS video (B's 12mth update near the end?)
she mentioned something about a doing a post partum update and got quite emotional and its seems more than just Brooks is a "challenging" baby
but is seem she not ready to film it (which I understand she may never be)

Cullen I think with his sister being released soon is bringing up so unresolved issues with his dad's passing, not having a service
and he hasn't be able to grieve fully plus their friend's dad passing recently brought up those feelings again

I really think there marriage is suffering and they are just co-existing with the kids
I had that happen it took some time and work but we got there but I hope whatever changes they decided work for them
and they can find the spark they had for each other as it looks like they have both lost it

I caved and watched. Some parts seemed genuine but Katie lost me at her defensiveness. It is clear they are struggling as a couple which is sad. I remember one of the things I used to like about them is how you could tell their love for each other . It’s not been as palpable for s very long time.
I finally unsubbed. They were the last family I continued to watch. I think I have enough of them and their stress.
I will keep up with them just reading here lol y’all are great! the ones who defend them and of course the ones who don’t . I said a few months back that they will eventually get to be like all other families that fall off the pedestal. I think it’s slowly starting

I'm beginning to wonder if there will be a vlog today. They are usually up by now.

Cullen probably had to tie his shoe. It was too stressful so they're taking the day off.

Well. Cullen posted an Instagram photo of brooks with a Barbie, no mention of a late/no vlog. If they're not intending to post a video today then they learned absolutely nothing.

I feel they're milking the situation by uploading late/not uploading at all today to generate more speculation. Whether they're doing on purpose or not it's eventually going to backfire on them when their fans get tired of it (I already am, and I'm sure most of us are) and unsubscribe and move on. I felt pretty optimistic yesterday because I thought they had learned that this wasn't the way to handle things but today we're back to the drawing board.

They have no schedule. Zero time management. Or maybe they just don't care. Katie better start applying to jobs soon. Yesterday was Grand Dolly day, and today Gaines is at MDO. No reason they don't have time because of their "challenging kids."

It really would do them a world of good to have a set work schedule. And with both kids out of the house a few hours every other day they should be able to get on top of things.

I'm sure not uploading or uploading late is to try and get more views. Heck they didn't even have to film yesterday, they said in yesterday's video that they had filmed a vlog but the sit down complaining session was too long to include that footage. It could have been edited and ready to go for today's video!

The vlog is up. Footage from Wednesday. I'm only halfway through, but Cullen is so freaking proud of himself for putting toys in some drawers in the playroom. It's like he's saying "see!? I do stuff!"

They actually show the front end a little in today's vlog when Katie is getting Gaines in the car before school. So if there was an accident, it wasn't bad enough to be taken into a shop right away. He could have been pulled over though.

It's there before they left for school in the drive way

You can see the suburban in the drive way, weird that they're not driving it though. Maybe they took the seats out for party supplies and are just too lazy to put them back?

Also, hilarious that Gaines thinks organizing and cleaning means somebody is coming haha

They are tired and overworked yet send the kids away a few times a week and therefore get a break?

Sure your problems are work/kid related.....

I liked them both way more before they moved.

They only have Gaines 3 full days a week. 3 days at MDO, and 1 Grand Dolly day. They deserve a break from vlogging, but I agree with you that there's no way the kids are the main stressor.

There's definitely something fishy here.
Isn't Brooks going to have a Granddolly day starting soon as well?

I definitely preferred them before they moved. They should have stayed put. Or even just moved to a more sustainable house.

I literally said "wtf" outloud when he started talking about blood on the table. It's not so much what he said, it's the way he said it. Something like "this is perfect height for poor Brooks to bang his head off of" it wouldn't have been so cringe worthy. But he just took it to such a creepy level. Poor Gaines looked horrified until she realized that there wasn't actually any blood and Brooks was fine.

Re: C&K: The Struggle is Real...ly Hard to Relate (Part 14)

Postby RecklessDisregard » Fri Sep 29, 2017 1:36 pm

It seems like buying a more upscale (read: expensive) house is a rite of passage for YTers. It is also a symbol of their success, one that most of their viewers can't relate to. It's especially a problem for C&K because their relatability was a big draw. They seemed like basically normal people, despite the YT career and little things here and there that implied Katie came from a semi-wealthy family with parents who really love their daughters and grandkids and want to help them. That never bothered me, because I would do the same thing if I ever came into money.

Other than that, I have enjoyed C&K because they seemed normal, like a couple my husband and I could hang out with, have a few drinks, etc. They eat actual food (not the healthiest - I know). They don't stealth-proselytize for their brand of Christianity. I think they are both very body conscious, it's just that we notice it more with Katie. I can relate to that.

Here's where it turns sour - They want a big, swanky home, but they aren't consistent enough to enforce any rules about keeping toys in the play room, and they're probably too "exhausted" and broke to personalize the house and keep it nice. It's easy to see that they have little kids because there are toys everywhere. It's like the antithesis of E+J's Ice Palace (and rock garden), even though they are both speculated to be in the same price range.

Back to the things I like - Little Brooks is funny as hell. I love dramatic, loud babies - as an observer. I would tear my hair out if I had to deal with it IRL, 24/7. And it's been so interesting to watch Gaines grow up and to see her little mind at work.

Those are the reasons I found their vlogs worth 15 minutes of my day. But they seem to be in panic mode. I think they should have stayed in their old house, as we have anecdotal evidence to support the claim the that buying a bigger, nicer house ruins YT channels.

BTW, since we're on the subject of body consciousness and whether Cullen still wants her... That sentence was hard to even write, and the next one is worse: During Gaines' party, did anyone notice the camera lingering on Ariel's butt? Maybe I am just crazy. Ariel was holding MG's hand so he had a reason to film, but it just left me feeling odd. I liked MG's 2nd birthday party a lot more.

TLDR: I liked them for a lot of reasons, but not so much anymore. New houses = new personality (or perhaps jealousy on my part?). Whoever said Cullen might have a wandering eye, I agree, but I don't think he would act on it.

I don’t think Cullen has a wandering eye. I think he’s just bored, and needs something else in his life. Sitting at home and filming your kids all day or running to the store isn’t very fulfilling.

I think Cullen is by nature very outgoing, and flirtatious with women. Goes along with his frat boy personality. So combine that with Katie's wavering self esteem, and Cullen's lack of affection toward her outside of vlogging, and I could see where their relationship could be strained.
