Re: Cullen and Katie: Shifty eyes and constant lies | Part #25
I am really curious to know what they do all day that they equate to a 40 hour work week. They cannot really compare themselves to Instagram influencers because I follow a few that are posting stories all day everyday to drum up engagement. I have a feeling they are potentially less appealing for brands because of the difference between their follower counts and the likes/comments they get on their posts.
They admitted to the agent communicating with brands for them so there is work they don't do. I just don't understand how they think approving comments is a full time job.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Shifty eyes and constant lies | Part #25
They know approving comments isn’t a full time job. They just prefer to do nothing. I wonder how much they pay the agent? It’s probably a hefty percentage of what they make. Why aren’t they posting more ads? We’re in the middle of February. Have they posted an ad this month? I only remember seeing one in the month of January. The only other active YouTubers I follow are Brittnull and April from AprilJustinTv. April’s husband runs trending families so that’s probably why she has a steady stream of brand deals, but both her and Britt post atleast an ad a week. The excuse that this time of year is slow for Youtubers is bullshit. Sure, they might not make as much as they do in December, but there’s work out there. Why don’t they have long lasting relationships with brands? Samika started working with Hallmark before their daughter was born. She’ll be 4 this year. I really think they might have a bad reputation within the industry. Maybe their portfolio is bad? I imagine advertisers want more than a photo of them holding their product with their mouths open. That’s as creative as they get.

Sam does beautiful ads that are filmed nicely and obviously had a lot of thought put into them. I'm sure it's why he works with the same brands year after year and he gets big brands even though they don't have a huge following

I don't follow them on IG, but haven't they quit YT? I got the feeling they weren't making enough money to survive. Same with Cullen and Katie. At some point they will have to find other work. Another channel I used to watch—Steps to Wander—has also basically quit YT.lmmomSD wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 11:45 am Sam does beautiful ads that are filmed nicely and obviously had a lot of thought put into them. I think all these family vloggers are realizing YT isn't a REAL job.

Sam said that they wouldn’t vlog like they use to, but he would focus more on hero style videos. He hasn’t posted since then. Views from YouTube hasn’t been a real source of income for them for a while. YouTube probably isn’t worth the effort. Instagram is where they make their money. They post ads consistently so I don’t think they’re actually struggling. Their living expenses are nothing like Cullen and Katie’s. I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re earning just as much or more money from their sponsored deals. They consistently work with Hallmark, Best Buy, McDonald’s and now Kroger.rosie_dalia wrote:I don't follow them on IG, but haven't they quit YT? Re: Cullen and Katie: Shifty eyes and constant lies | Part #25
Sam is talented at what he does and seems to put a lot of effort into his ads. They have also said the bulk of their income comes from other avenues. They also live well within their means, I am pretty sure they still only have one vehicle.
C&K seem to put absolutely no effort into any of their ads or content. Really the only brands they seem to work with are toy brands. All they do is snap a picture with their kids and the toy. They are a relatively large channel (subscriber wise) and should be able to rope in a fairly large brand. They seem to get a lot of free trips like disney, nascar, universal studios. Having an agent communicate with the brands for them is so ridiculous when both of them are home all day, don't cook, and their children are gone most of the day.
If I was microwaving meals for my kids and had them out of the house for 5 + hours a day I could get so much done!

I thought the same thing. It's not like they actually put up a video every day or even Monday through Friday. There are plenty of YouTubers who put out content daily. And how many times do they post, we are taking the day off. Um, your income isn't high enough to pay your bills, you shouldn't be taking a single day off. They should be working 7 days a week at this point. I know it sucks but they got themselves in this situation, they need to suffer through the consequences.Boymomma123 wrote: ↑Sun Feb 16, 2020 4:54 am I am really curious to know what they do all day that they equate to a 40 hour work week. I also wonder what they plan to do about selling the house. They paid $640K, but down $45K. Closing costs and realtor fees were probably around $10K, so a total of $650K for the house. With being behind on the mortgage, borrowing $600K, realtor fees from selling, there is no way they will be going to closing without having to bring money. How will they do that, plus have money to rent. They will at the very least need first and last month rent and with their credit being so shitty, they may not even be able to find a decent place to rent.
They need to get their head out of their asses and go get second jobs. Christ I did some research, and with Katie's degree, she has some serious earning potential. The average salary for a psychologist in Hoover is around $90K a year. If they are making $96K a year now, why doesn't she go back to work, Cullen keep doing the social media/youtube stuff, the kids stay in school/daycare and they nearly double their income. Katie could do social media stuff after work, after the kids go to bed or weekends. THAT would get them out of debt and comfortable.

Katie should have gone back to work when they started putting the kids on day care all day. She always claimed being a stay at home mom was her dream yet shipped her kids off as soon as she could. I just cannot fathom clinging to social media and staying in your pajamas all day when you have the potential to double your income. I know she has been out of the workforce for 5+ years but she was "raising" her kids and would have an easier time getting a job than Cullen would.
I don't feel bad for them, they are so selfish and out of touch with reality. There are so many parents who work to the bone just to provide their kids with shelter and food and these two idiots refuse to even work harder at yt.

This! I just started watching them when their "debt disaster" video came out and it was recommended to me on YouTube. I actually commented on one of their videos asking how they expected to make money on their house when it's listed for less than they bought it for.
Also - they're doing the envelope system, but I'm not sure they even have an idea of what their basic operating costs are. What are they bringing in monthly (on average) and what would be their base budget (mortgage + bills + minimum payments on credit cards + food). It seems like they just withdrew a bunch of money on a whim to put in envelopes, and missed this crucial step. Maybe that's why they won't get full-time jobs - it's easy to delude yourself that you're "ok" if you don't know what your income v. expense is.

They some how think that putting cash in envelopes is going to solve all of their debt problems. Obviously that is part of the process of budgeting but they are so obsessed with it that they don't seem to realize they are spending money. Their goal right now should be to spend as little as possible so they have money leftover to go toward their debt. But valentine's day was just too important to cut out!

Re: Cullen and Katie: Shifty eyes and constant lies | Part #25
The money they withdrew was what was left over after distracting the bills plus debt they have to pay to several persons- I wonder who they are, Katie's parents, Kelley her sister, Brittany even, DB, EJ? It was definitely more than 1 person they have to pay each month, and so the amount they borrowed also isn't small if they are paying in installments. There was also a third thing it seemed that Katie had distracted but she seemed not to want to share this because she said something like: anyway, a couple of other things, while she could have simply told it.
Katie miscalculated, she said she had calculated $640 to be left over but the total she put in envelopes was $660.
I don't think they are transparent and clear. Only the first 'episode' was _maybe_ promising but they didn't follow up with a professional approach, as usual. The videos would also be better and have a more professional look when they would edit and show the calculation on screen and say this is our income for this month, minus the bills for facilities, car payment, minimal cc payment, total amount at persons we have to pay, etc ==> this is left over: we put in envelopes. I guess she doesn't want to let people look into her cards and wants to keep a sense of control? She is also vague in not mentioning if they payed the mortgage for that month? It's all so half-half with them, in a case where it should be black-and-white. You're either doing budget videos or you're not. I think the vagueness in the end will most probably mean that Katie has something to hide, for instance that they would be underwater if they would pay the mortgage and they wouldn't have any money left in the first place to 'put in envelopes'. Not paying their mortgage seems to be the only reason they seemingly survive. Now Katie can play house with Cullen, color A-4s, fill envelopes and delude themselves they're good on their way of paying their debt. I'm ready for something sensationally to happen honestly and am curious what the next (big) thing out of their closet will be.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Shifty eyes and constant lies | Part #25
They thik that because they met a goal for an envelope they are entitled/deserving of spending it. There was no reason they even needed to spend $40 for Valentines day and it isnt a pat on the back if you have $10 left over from the $50. They could have gotten each kid a thing of candy, the socks and made a cute card for each kid and and then done the aldi pizzas for dinner. $10 spend and the kids would be happy. Just because you ent from shopping at Target to the dollar store doesnt fix the issue. You are still buying crap nobody needs, do the kids need cheap stuffed animals or balloons that will be "used" for one morning and are horrible for the environment? did the gifts needs to be wrapped/in bags??Boymomma123 wrote: ↑Mon Feb 17, 2020 2:39 pm They some how think that putting cash in envelopes is going to solve all of their debt problems. Re: Cullen and Katie: Shifty eyes and constant lies | Part #25
But seriously, how hard is it to outline your recurring bills, recurring expenses, and your monthly income? I’ve seen plenty of videos that outline this and create visuals. They’re making this so convoluted and hard to follow, while pretending that they’re being so transparent.
I agree that the severity of the situation has not dawned on Katie. Budgeting for holidays is something you do when you are current on all your bills. If she grasped the situation, she wouldn’t be patting herself on the back for a Dollar Tree shopping spree. She would be cutting out ALL unnecessary spending.
None of this really surprises me though, I still can’t imagine how they got this far into debt before they had a wake-up call. As a freelancer/small business owner with a varied income, how in the world do you drain your entire savings? At a minimum you would think they would realize they need *something* in the bank in cases where they need to float themselves before a check comes in. I'm genuinely baffled that someone with small children would take on that kind of risk so cavalierly. Not having the money in the bank to take care of my child would terrify me.

That dollar tree valentine shit was ridiculous. What kid needs a giant bag of gifts for VALENTINES? Some kids don’t even get that much shit for Xmas. Omg..I just can’t believe her. My kids always got a card, tiny box of dollar tree chocolates and a tiny stuffed animal. There..3 bucks each and happy kiddos. Katie is pushing middle age and is completely delusional.

Are they still not using the every dollar app? It is a foolproof way to make a budget and follow it every month. I get that the approach they used before worked for them but they are completely different people now and are in a pretty bad financial situation. They need to get serious and do it fast. They planned on the house selling and solving all of their problems.

That is exactly what I am thinking her goal is by not using the app. It is super easy and tells you exactly how much money you have for your debt. I think she is somehow still trying to have money so she can spend it. She has not stopped spending, the valentine's gifts for the kids was her way of fulfilling her shopping addiction.HelloSweetie wrote:Yep.
