Kattiness Everdeen wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2020 3:51 pm Does anyone find it strange that Chad can't be trusted with a bathroom door, but they are happy to leave him home alone while they go on vacation?

Also, YT wanted me to watch this video from 5 years ago. Someone please tell me that Grandma didn't buy a 12 yr old girl an engraved 22 mag revolver for Christmas. I saved it at the part Shari trades for the correct gun. She doesn't even have a dresser, where does a 6th grader keep their handgun in a house full of small children? Maybe someone really is looking out for them, because every decision they make in life seems to be an invitation for death. I don't know how they are all still alive. Ruby's carelessness can destroy a house in minutes with a stove or a water faucet, imagine what she can do with a gun.

EW EW EW EW they are just a bunch of ditsy, idiot women they DO NOT NEED GUNS!!! They clearly don't know how to even hold them!!! It's like they just want to be something from a Western movie! Yes I think there was an extra one that was Jennifer's so Shari was opening an extra that wasn't for her but.. who freaking knows with these people. EW this grosses me out so much that there are people out there like this.

Jordan Page has also bragged about having guns. Yeah we get it you're all raging republicans, it's like they've got some sort of superiority complex about it all like as if they don't scream and run away from literal spiders.

Ruby: Ellie always looks so cute. I wonder if I'd look that cute with my greasy get-up.

I don't think I've ever met a human being who is as 'greasy' as Ruby is and talks about being all the time. Ugh, her hair makes me want to throw up all the time when she ties it up and points out the layer upon layers of grease in it because she only washes it once a month. Lol, her sisters (or at least Ellie and Julie) seem to have good hygiene and at least look showered all the time. They should sit Ruby down sometime and demonstrate how to shower and wash your hair, since Ruby doesn't seem to know how. I'm guessing Ruby got her hygiene issues from her mom, who chimed in about the grease comment saying, "Why do you think I put this hat on?"

Also, why does she find it so stinking hard to put sunscreen on her kids? Russell's face looks awful and then Ruby sitting there acting like she feels so bad. Why don't you just put sunscreen on them in the first place? She had to have put in on herself, because she talked about the one spot she missed. Really selfish to sit there putting sunscreen on yourself and not thinking to put it on your kids.

Lastly, her comment, "I can only have three sips of milkshake because I get so full right away". Way to make people feel bad who watch your vlog and can eat a whole milkshake. She's seriously got an eating disorder if she can't eat more than three sips of milkshake, but I'm sure it was just meant to show off how petite she is and to brag about her tiny portions. Didn't she chug a peanut butter and chocolate milkshake when Chad was in the wilderness, because it didn't count as a 'sweet'?

the dad isnt so bad
if your kid dont have a backpak she makes him pay for it ot of thier checking i watched the ones where they sent chad to that brat camp why did he go again- he seems like a very sweet boy
Last year my 7 year old ripped two backpacks i dont know how he did it but he got a new one each time the backpack he has now seems to be good
any one know of backpacks that last are Vans Backpacks durrable
I cant belive they made him sleep on bean bags for pranking his brother my older cousin did that o me nad my brother and yelled sikes it was good we got him back good. My kids prank eachother some are funny i wouldnt punish them for pulling a prank

waht is the deal with sibling gifs
-My cousin is one of 6
they have always bought gifts for each one of thier sibs
crazy middles and peices do this as well- why not go to the dollar store and get something small for each sibling

why did they send chad away this family is so messed up wtf
If it is still the same, JanSport backs their product with a warranty that if it breaks/tears, they will repair it or replace it if they can't. They are more expensive than others, can get a good sale usually, but seems a good deal to me.
thanks i was thinking of JanSport as well and Vans back packs are those reliable

I don't watch the Mikesell family vlog, but over on April & Davey the latter said the Mikesell family was in a plane crash. Everyone survived, but I seem to recall that Chad used to hang out with one or both of their sons (Brock & Boston).

Making sure they have sunscreen on is probably "their responsibility" according to Ruby.

Knowing Ruby I wouldn't be at all surprised she thinks that way. Her "apology" to Russell was faker than fake and just her attempt to look like a "good mom" on camera.

Wasn't at surprised to see the kids were wide awake when she brought them the remains of her milkshake and fries as a "treat" to share. The kids were fed leftovers for dinner and sent to bed when it was still light outside. That might be fine for the younger children like Lucy, but too early for Abby & Julie. Sunset is around 8:15 PM so I'm guessing they were sent to bed at 8 PM or even earlier.

When Shari leaves, who do you think will fall into the Head Sibling/Backup Parent role?
Chad is the next eldest but don't expect he will be allowed the control over the younger siblings.
Abby I can't imagine would want to be in the position, she's very joint middle child with Julie and seems to be happier in the background (to me anyway).

rulatows000 wrote: Tue Aug 18, 2020 7:12 pm So, Ruby's using Outschool for her kids' homeschooling. I looked it up and it seems like it's both good and bad. Lol, lots of mixed reviews. Essentially, you don't need any experience to be a teacher and can teach absolutely whatever you want. So, yes, it can be a positive experience for kids who end up in an interesting class with a good teacher, but can also be a total waste of time. Ruby said Russell and Eve took an "Uglyanima babies" class? Um... what the hell is that? Is that a typo - is it suppose to be ugly animal babies? Lol, whatever it is it doesn't sound like a worthwhile or educational class to take. Julie and Abby were taking a class on Ancient Greece taught by a college professor. Good subject matter, I guess, but could see it being difficult to follow along with if they don't have a strong background in history. So, yeah... Uglyanima babies (seriously, what the heck?) and Greek history... pretty well-rounded homeschool curriculum.

Also, was watching their vlog today. Chad re-named their snake Negan from The Walking Dead. I think it's been brought up before, but weird that a family that acts so strict and talks about no electronics and tv all summer, lets their kids watch TWD. Isn't it rated MA? I remember watching the first season awhile ago and thinking it was pretty intense, definitely not for kids. Secondly, of course Ruby has to make a list of chores for Shari and Chad to do when they stay home. If it was my kids I'd expect them to clean up after themselves and keep the house clean, but making them do extra chores while the rest of the family goes out and has fun? Really? Especially when Chad had to stay for football practice, not like he's going to be lounging around doing nothing. It always annoys me, too, when Chad wants to or has to stay home for something and of course Shari ends up staying, too. Ruby with her, "It'll be good for him to stay with his big sister." He's fifteen... he's old enough to stay home alone without Ruby leaving his 'big sister' to keep an eye on him.
I mentioned it before, but the family doesn't seem to understand that the purpose of rules in society is to protect people. They think they are just to manipulate/control, especially children. Forbidding My Little Pony and iCarly, but allowing The Walking Dead and Game of Thrones is a perfect example. Granted Shari said she didn't want to watch GOT because it was "overrated". If she saw the first episode, (which some classify as soft-core porn), she would have been hooked like everyone else. Maybe she did watch and her being above it all was a cover. Unlike Chad, she was watching tv alone every night.

Yes! Ruby knew those kids were awake because they put themselves to bed at home. Notice they were chowing down on her food scraps like they hadn't just been fed dinner. I think 7 PM is the bedtime the other sisters use, but we have seen Ruby struggle to even get dinner together before 8 in the past. It drives me crazy that Shari was treated like an adult at Abby's age, eating a real meal and staying up to play games, but everyone else gets sent to bed with scraps hours before their normal bedtime.

The way they all went for the food, appeared as though they went to bed hungry no doubt.

Ruby is so fake, her reason for taking the food in "look at me, I'm a great mom sneaking my kids a snack," how about letting them stay up a little longer, it is their vacation too!

Pitiful they send the teens/pre teens to bed so early too. No reason those girls can't hang out with each other, and watch a movie together or something quietly. Why is each family hunkered down all in the same room anyway. So much fun, the kids have to be around each other constantly at home, and even home vacation when there are cousins to share with, they are in one room with siblings.

I am betting that Ruby's kids were keeping up the other same-aged kids, because they go to bed so much later at home. So they stuck hers all in the same room to twiddle their thumbs for a few hours so the adults can gorge on their treats in peace.

I know, right? They tore into the shake and fries as though they were famished. Ellie fixed lunch (tacos) and from what someone said in one of the vlogs I got the impression the kids got what was left for their dinner, and there couldn't have been that much left given that many of the adults were scarfing down 3-4 each. I'd be honestly surprised if the kids got more than one apiece. Even with the breakfast burritos (Joel cooked breakfast) the kids got half a burrito, which isn't that much for active children, especially the older ones like Abby and Julie.

Guess I shouldn't be surprised by the scant portions, though, because most of the younger children are thin, with some looking like they're underweight. We've seen the skimpy portions Ruby dishes out, like a recent breakfast where she served Chad a portion that wasn't sufficient for a 15-year old and barely enough for a toddler.

Honestly, Eve looks solid. Do y’all think when she disappears all day she is being fed real meals by a neighbor who feels for her?

Eve always looks sickly to me. Not sure if it's the thinness, or how she carries herself, kind of slumpy and always looking anxious like a lot is on her mind. I think they all get lots of empty calories through the junk food snacks. Even at the lake, we see the kids with cookies and chips out, goldfish crackers, etc. When they get a treat at the store, it's never a single serve, always a huge bag of whatever they select. Ruby is known to hoard her oreo cookies, I think all the Griffith women treat cookies and junk food like another meal and they do the same for their kids. As active as the kids are at the lake, they burn the calories. a nice meal with lots of protein would be great, instead they fill up on sugar. Can't fault the kids for choosing sugar over what's good for them, what kid wouldn't? Parents should do their part by providing good full balanced meals for them a couple times of day.

Seeing that shredded chicken in the slow cooker that Ellie made, it looked like enough was made for 2 families. She had enough lime on the platter for an army! When the adults were eating it, they were very skimpy on the chicken, as we saw from a few of the plates. When they showed it going for the kids the next day, thye put more on it. Everyone must have held back putting lots on their dish the first day seeing there wasn't much, to the point many didn't get much more than a tablespoon so enough was left for the kids the next day. It's just sad though, the adults don't want to eat it the first day, much less a 2nd day in a row, but that's what the kids get, while the adults get a burger and shake that night. Always how they do, kids aren't worthy of anything special--and I guess they should be thankful to be getting any food at all.

The adults are so selfish, I don't think I will ever be able to believe the level of selfishness out of them. It gets me, Ruby tells Chad and Shari they have to clean the fridge and something else while she is gone, but we hear Ruby announce they haven't made the beds at the lake and it's very lazy there cause that's what you do on vacation. I guess the special treatment only applies to adults. For all their young followers who think Ruby is the best mom, I would love to know how they justify her selfish behavior. I imagine they think she is great because their parents', maybe, lack where Ruby pretends to shine. While Ruby can display "fun" mom side, she shows enough ugliness that if I were a teen, I would be more thankful she was not my mother.

Also, Ruby clearly doesn't bother showering and washing her hair during this trip and that is just gross after being in a lake water and sweating in the sun.

I know Bonnie locks her food room and the kids seem to only be allowed to eat their Mom's very restrictive diet for the most part (e.g. a tray of roast veggies for dinner). We did see tons of hidden wrappers stashed in the boys' room though, indicating they were sneaking food. I know Ellie's kids raid the pantry for breakfast when Mom sleeps in, but they are probably a little too young to be able to get their fill without assistance preparing meals. And considering Beau's kid just broke both arms "jumping" only a few feet, I assume they are not being fed an appropriate diet either.

When the vlogs just started, Shari and Chad were caught hoarding food in their rooms and said it was because they would wake up in the middle of the night starving. The kids also used to say they loved Sundays, because it was the only day they could eat as much as they wanted (Ruby cleared out the fridge every Sunday). I also remember a vlog where Chad asked if the pot of soup for dinner had meat in it, which means Ruby had likely been feeding them broth with no protein as a complete meal.

However, when the money came rolling in, Ruby got lazier and had the kids mostly managed their own meals. Eve was expected to make her own lunch at 3 yrs old and eat alone which she wasn't doing for obvious reasons. Now that she is finally old enough to be able to remember to eat and reach the food, she is probably getting plenty of calories, just not enough nutrition. They have free access to tons of individually packaged snack foods (and little supervision) to supplement Ruby's insanely tiny portions when she is in the mood to cook. Granted we saw Shari snap at Julie for eating too much bread that one day, at least they are able to fill their bellies. Protein and veggies are still in short supply for kids (except for Shari who thinks you need to be an athlete to be allowed grilled chicken).

I did wonder if Ruby brought them the food to appear like the cool mom she desperately wants to be, or if the kids had been making her look bad in front of her family, by taking more than their allotted Griffith child portion. Perhaps she was only giving them her dinner so they didn't steal it from the community cabin stash. I bet Olivia blew her entire savings on snacks at the gas station when Julie and Abby were visiting because they were starving. I know Julie was pissed when Bonnie ordered one plate of food for the girls to share when they went to a restaurant. The sisters/Jen probably think that Ruby's kids are spoiled and overfed.

Remember before Chad went to Anasazi, Ruby did some IG post about how #mothersarepowerful because he was acting out so she sat him down in the kitchen and made him watch her make him an egg like it was this great act of motherly love and sacrifice? It makes more sense now- actually cooking for the kids is this big deal. And when she suddenly realized Eve hadn't grown, so she was force feeding her eggs and cream?
Bonnie will throw a tray of roasted vegetables outside for the kids. I don't understand how anyone can look up to any of these sisters as parents. I seriously think that they just believe the verbiage in the IG posts and not look at how they actually behave. Julie is just as bad. They went for ice cream and Landon got a milkshake to himself while the kids had to share. I'm ok with sharing something huge. But this is weird.
And the cycle of dysfunction and disordered relationships with food will just continue. Hopefully some of them will marry people who see how crazy their ideas about feeding children are.

What does everyone think of today's vlog? Shari is bragging about all of the classes she is taking this year. She acts like she doesn't need math and is only taking it so she can be ready for college but I know she's not as smart as she thinks she is.

to be a nutritionist body builder/ whatever she wants to be I don't think you need math, as she said, she has completed her HS requirements for math.

What I'm surprised about is that she is not retaking her AP tests, that makes me think she won't go to BYU but a technical college for what she wants to study.

Shari's choice in classes suggests that she has given up on getting into a competitive college, and/or she is convinced that BYU is required to let her in because of her father. They specifically tell you not to blow off senior year and take easy classes, because colleges will hold that against you in the application process. It is even worse if you take APs and then stop, because that indicates you aren't willing or able to keep up with college level coursework.

Shari's only extra-curricular this year appears to be volleyball, so that can't account for her academic drop-off (and is a HUGE red flag on a college app to do virtually nothing with your time). She mentioned that she didn't want to go 2 years without math, what HS that claims to prep kids for college even lets students get away with that? BYU also has diversity quotas, so it is most competitive for a white Utah Mormon. The academic requirements are surprisingly high; it looks like they expect you to be at the top of your class and take several AP classes. Her ACT score nudges her just above the average range. Will that be enough? Will they simply be dazzled by her abandoned YT channel and not care that her application isn't competitive? Will Daddy's hard work secure her the admission regardless? Imagine if BYU rejected her...

Other thoughts: Ruby hd to ask Russell his age, then counted on her fingers to subtract 9 from 15. Chad must have finally saved up for his hair bleaching - what do you think he had to do to earn the money during a pandemic? I love that Ruby's manipulation to try and make Julie do a straight cut didn't work this year. It sounds like Ruby's Life Coaching is actually having a positive effect, she corrected herself to stop saying "we" and told Abby "you're going to try it" and "you're going to see if you like it". If only it was really Abby's decision. All the kids are starting to look like hostages on these vlogs.
