While it does seem like the hurricanes (Irma and Maria) were "years" ago, it was just last September. Damage depended on certain areas, but the entire island lost power for a good amount of time. You could still see a lot of damage when they visited in April, including traffic lights that were still out.

Considering how freaked out they seem to get during tornado warnings (understandably, of course), I sort of can't believe they'd pick PR. They'll need to fly everyone out to evacuate for a hurricane. Big hurricanes are NO JOKE. I stayed in SWFL during Irma and had no power, no stores or gas stations open, no internet/TV, no AC and spotty cell phone and radio for five days. It could have been worse, but I don't have five little kids.

I really think this is Jeremy's dream place to live—not Kendra's. I also wonder how they will deal with "rock fever" and can't just take off on a road trip anytime they want. They are going to have to fly so much more, and it's obvious Kendra dreads flying with all the kids.

I'm sort of surprised the move is still on. Maybe they are exaggerating Janae's health problems, but if the blood tests are fine and she's really being admitted to the hospital more testing, that makes me think they are looking for something pretty serious. Hopefully it's nothing too serious. Poor kid!

It's no secret that I like this family but I'm sad they are moving, I could have sworn that they decided to move earlier but when Caleb was diagnosed they put the move on hold, I was hoping they just decided to stay, they seem to have a good support system there and the kids are in that school one day a week and go to gymnastics. The move just seems random, why Puerto Rico? does it have something to do with the church?

They used to be my favorite family vloggers because they seemed really genuine, but over the past year it seems like things have changed. I think Jeremy's attitude has changed now that they are really making a TON of money. I agree that the move to Puerto Rico seems so strange. There are plenty of sunny places they could move and where the kids could learn Spanish, but Puerto Rico seems like they are trying to get away from family and life in general.

Did anyone notice today's video was just old stuff again?!? I wonder why they reposted these things?

Janae is in the hospital. They are going to do further testing.

Listening to Kendra speaking about the "great doctors" and friends to help out I wonder if they really thought their move through. And if they decided to use a feeding pump for Janae then it seems to be something a bit more serious?

I really hope they re consider the move. They'd be lonely down in PR.

Wow! When they mentioned Janae going to the hospital for more tests I was thinking just an out-patient procedure—but she could be there for a week and she's on a feeding tube??! I hope she's OK, but it does seem serious. I really hope they decide to stay in KC until she's really, truly better. Moving to PR in the middle of this would be sort of irresponsible and selfish.

Yes, there are hospitals in PR, but they (especially Janae) are getting to know the specialists in KC, so they'll likely have to start all over again in PR. Poor kid!

They delayed their move once for Caleb's celiac, but this seems WAY more serious. Then again, maybe it's not a serious illness and she'll be fine after the hospital stay.

It was weird they posted a clip about moving to PR in the intro and never mentioned it in the vlog. I think Jeremy is playing tricks.

They seem like a lovely family. I watch them periodically. Besides the fact that I'm against family vlogging, I do enjoy them for the most part. I hope Janae is okay. Does anyone else think that there is something really special about Caleb? He is a really incredible kid. They all are , really.

Edit: What school was that in today's vlog? Not the name, but I just mean I thought they were homeschooled?

They are homeschooled but they do go to a physical school for a homeschool program once a week. :)

Thanks. It's obviously a big one and almost 100% a religious one since I don't think American public schools usually sing such Christian songs for concerts, do they? They generally don't in Canada, anyway. The Johnston (?) kids are super cute and really seem very grounded for youtube children.

Did they really leave it 10 months before seeking medical help for Janae?

No, they found out she had stopped growing a few months ago. They were trying to encourage her to eat more but it hasn't helped. I hope they are able to get to the bottom of it. Poor baby!!

The dietician consult and calorie-based meal plan should have been an early intervention though, not 10 months later.

I think that holiday recital program was at their church. They are Mormons and there seems to be a large Mormon population in KC.

I’m going through something similar to this with my daughter who is 3. It took about a year to get a diagnoses of failure to thrive. 1. Bc after 2, annual check ups is all u get. If ur child is healthy, or seemingly healthy,
U only see the doctor 1 a year.
So no one realize it’s an issue until it’s a bigger problem.
2. Toddlers are picky eaters in general so they go with the least invasive thing first. We started with a dietician first. We also had a feeding therapist come in, which I do wish they would have tried, but every doctor is different.

Kendra said ‘JAnea needs to learn to eat’ in the most recent video which what they are doing in the hospital would
Be protocol for a failure to thrive toddler. For the most part. The timeline for Janeas failure to thrive diagnoses seems typical. It’s frustraing but with a small child this is how it’s done.

Especially since it seems she is so no signs of organ damage or other malnutrition issues. Perhaps in a perfect world things should have been different but this is how failure to thrive goes in a toddler

That’s terrible and frustrating! I’m sorry you’re going through that. It _shouldn’t_ take that long because FTT can be fatal. I’m fortunate I had my daughter diagnosed & treated within 2 months (but once I noticed she wasn’t growing I pushed to find the reason). I was under the impression that Janae was having weight checks which is why I stated these “less invasive” interventions shouldn’t have taken 10 MONTHS! :O

Something really seems to be wrong with Janae. Did Kendra only study to be a nurse and never worked as a nurse?? You'd think she'd catch on to these things A LOT faster. Even with the feeding tube stuff...did she never train for that? It's a bit odd Kendra seems to have very little medical knowledge or experience if she really used to be a nurse. I think they lie that she was actually a nurse.

Poor Janae. I hope they take her back to the hospital. If she was fine at the hospital, but throwing up every meal at home, then that needs to be checked. Immediately.

They obviously don't show all day, but Janae does seem to eat/drink without hesitation. I wonder what the underlying problem is???

I guess the PR move is still on. Moving to a basically "foreign" country with a sick kid seems a bit insane.

They’ve done all the testing and everything is working correctly internally for janea. With the feeding tube she’s gaining weight fine. There’s no underlying condition. They didn’t realize how little she was eating. It happens more often than u think.

Vomiting with a feeding tube is normal, her body has to get use to it. It can be very uncomfortable.
