If his parents were on the loan, their names would still show up on the public records, even as non-occupying co-borrowers. At least that's how it works in my state.
Unfortunately, you can get into a situation where a bank will give you a loan that is beyond your means. I never went based off of the maximum amount we were approved for, I went based off of the monthly payment I was comfortable making in good times and in bad times. You have to do your due diligence as the borrower because often times the institution making the loan is not looking out for your best interest. That's why so much of the loan payment is interest in the first few years. The bank is making sure it recoups, and worst case scenario they can seize the property and sell it out from under you if you fail to make your mortgage payments. So their ass is covered, so to speak. Yours not so much. I think they did this on their own, with maybe a small financial gift from parents and just did a very, very small or nonexistent down payment. Zero down payments are all the rage again and I see my peers doing it. It's not a smart financial move to have little or no equity, but people are so eager to be homeowners and they think they're getting a free ride.

First they’re trying to put the frame together with all the different screws he got at Home Depot. Next clip she says that he’s gone to Home Depot to get screws. She’s got on different sweaters at different time. They can’t even get their act together with the editing.
Hahaha he’s talking about getting stuff put together so they can see where everything is going to fit. All of their furniture is pretty big so it’s not really going to fit, it’s all the wrong scale for their tiny house!
Was she really serious about worrying if the house was haunted? She also acted like a ditz about the instapot.
I for sure think this house was her choice and not his! Even conceited Corbin knows it’s too small. It’s not like it’s going to expand. Wonder what their parents really think.

Ok ok, I've been away for a few days, so I wanted to add my two cents on a few of the topics that have been touched on:
On the house: I actually kind of like the house, and I think it is kind of charming. No, it's not super practical, but I'm trying to think of an equivalent in my (very expensive DC) housing market, and I don't think it's unreasonable for a young family to buy into a nice neighborhood by choosing a tiny ass house. It's certainly not uncommon here, and there are neighborhoods in my area where I would consider stretching my budget to buy a kind of unreasonable house because it's an area in which I want to be. I will reserve judgement here for now. Being in a small space is their choice, it's not like they are going in blind. Also, I don't think it's a dump OR needs work. I think it looks pretty well kept. Just because a house is old doesn't mean that it's in poor repair. EVERY house inspection finds something. My house needs updated wiring, but it doesn't mean that the current wiring is unsafe. It's just old.
On Corbin's/Scott family money: I don't think you have to be rich to help your kids out financially. I think it's completely plausible that his parents are helping, though none of us can know for sure, and I don't think having your parents help you out makes you an entitled brat, it just makes you lucky. Corbin DOES seem super bratty, but if his parents are helping out, he's probably reluctant to discuss that publicly. I wish they were more transparent in general, I think they are intentionally vague about pretty much everything, but this is one area where I don't blame them, if that's the case.
On how boring they are: This house is not going to help their vlogs, IMO. The reveal was anticlimactic, and every vlog since then I've skipped through. I've seen it a bunch here, but I'll say it again: they are fundamentally boring people with nothing to offer in terms of viewing entertainment.

I don't think its a dump, I do think it needs work though. Mostly the outside.
Its just so wrong for them, as much as Kelsey says its not. The house would be great for an older couple, or a young couple starting out. Not a family of 3, soon to be 4, with oversized furniture.
They must already be planning on moving soonish, Kelsey said they weren't setting the guest bed up (duh, they have nowhere to set it up) but didn't say they would be selling it or anything. The way she said it implied they'd be storing it. But someone who is planning on being in a 2 bedroom house for a few years (enough to build some equity) wouldn't store a guest bed indefinitely.
Re: Steps to Avoiding Responsibility - Part 5
I checked out the street view and the outside definitely looks a little scrubby. Hopefully they'll put some work in come springtime.FakingIt_MakingIt wrote: ↑Tue Feb 12, 2019 10:40 amsasha186 wrote: ↑Tue Feb 12, 2019 10:25 am Ok ok, I've been away for a few days, so I wanted to add my two cents on a few of the topics that have been touched on:

I agree that it's small for a family with children, but I just can't get excited about the impracticality. If they want to live in a small house, that's their prerogative. It's not going to kill them, and June will be fine with less stuff and a lot of time outside. Their furniture is def too big and bulky, but maybe they will sell some of it down the line and get items that fit the space better.
I also agree that storing items definitely implies they don't consider this to be their forever home just yet. We haven't seen the garage, but if it's big enough, maybe storing that stuff isn't going to be a problem. OR, maybe if they ever make money, they will renovate and build up or out.

Re: Steps to Avoiding Responsibility - Part 5
Wow! Their bed fills up the entire "master" bedroom. I wonder if they measured anything before they decided on this house? It looks like they can't even fit bedside tables or a dresser because of the massive bed and odd layout of the room. They have a smaller bed. Why don't they just use that one?
I cringed when she showed the InstaPot. In a kitchen that small you just can't have many large appliances, unless you don't mind storing them when you aren't using them—and when you store it away you forget about it. They have almost no counter space as it is.
It's interesting her dad no longer shows up in the vlogs. I wonder why. He never had a problem with it before.
Kelsey is a little cuckoo. She was nervous to be in the house alone when Corbin wasn't home for a few hours?? She seems afraid to do anything on her own. Oh well, at least the house has "good vibes," so it must not be haunted. *EYEROLL*
I am curious to see the garage. I wonder if they might transition it into an office space. I would imagine Corbin needs a quieter place to work on vlogs—especially when/if Baby #2 shows up. I work from home about 50% of the time and need a dedicated "office" space or I get distracted. I really don't understand how some YTers work from their beds, but I guess they are used to that from the RV trip and they had no table.

Ok I can’t believe I will be agreeing with Kels here the house gives me the creeps, like something bad happened there! The bedroom and kitchen area especially! That door from the back yard into the master I keep picturing some shadow there, the garden why all the flower bed for such a dreary area? It almost disturbed me from the start! I feel like screaming leave it!
Get up and leave. But I guess even a spirit needs space to float around! I even got a horror ad while watching! Also I find it weird Kels said Corbin had to go get his parents from the airport how did his parents manage when Corbin was out of state! Now he had to go get them?

That's not really that weird. I do airport runs when family is in town. Honestly, they shouldn't even have to ask him...he should be offering to do stuff like that. Plus, Boise is pretty small, so it would probably take an hour to pick them up, drop them off at their house and get home.
I don't think their house seems scary at all. it's just old. Plus, the yard is dreary and dead because it's the middle of winter. The growing season there doesn't really kick off until they're are frost-free—so that's like April/May. Growing up in Portland we'd have super-bleak winters, but then the flowers come out in the spring and it makes a world of difference. Things usually start to bloom around Mother's Day.

I don’t get a scary vibe from the house either. Just small vibes haha.
That yard will take work, it’s pretty overgrown. But not much can be done until spring. They managed to make the yard decent at their Cali rental so hopefully they can stay motivated enough to do the same here.

I think kelsey was saying the opposite. She gets "good vibes" and feels like the house had good memories (coz you can know things like that about a house! ) She went on and on about how she doesn't get the creeps from the house. I lost track of how many tones she said "vibes". But she wouldn't be a good hipster if she didn't sage the house first. They're such a joke.endof wrote:Ok I can’t believe I will be agreeing with Kels here the house gives me the creeps, like something bad happened there! The bedroom and kitchen area especially! Today shows exactly how boring they are. He made a big deal about going on a jog along the river but didn’t show any of it. At least that would have been better than listening to Kelsey go on and on and on about her clothes! That garage must be jammed packed now with her summer clothes and all of the extra furniture and stuff they can’t fit into the house.
It’s still so strange that they’ve put the table in front of the window. They’ve got that eating space in the kitchen that’s just wasted. Wonder why they haven’t shown June’s room. Don’t think they’d have room for a dresser in their room.

They really don't have space at all in the kitchen for a table/chairs. They have some cabinet with an appliance on top next to the fridge, but even if they moved that it's still too small for a table and chairs in there.jmoysa wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 7:47 am Today shows exactly how boring they are. I agree that the garage must be stuffed! They have all the stuff for a guest room, the oversized daybed-thing from Missy, all the extra appliances and wasn't their old garage PACKED full of stuff before they moved?
It makes me wonder where they'd even put a Christmas tree?! They literally have no extra space in that house.
I'm curious to see June's room, but it's probably just full of boxes too.
Seriously, they've lived there a week, it's a TINY house, they "work" from home, yet they haven't finished unpacking? I think that shows how truly unorganized they really are. Were Kelsey AND Corbin taking naps in the middle of the day on a Tuesday? Must be nice.....
Re: Steps to Avoiding Responsibility - Part 5
I'm not even sure what I want from these two at this point. Today they went for a jog, unpacked, napped, and baked cookies? I mean, sounds nice, but it's not interesting. I can't think of anything I would really want to watch them do. I wish they had bought an honest to god fixer upper to renovate, I think that might be more interesting.

Re: Steps to Avoiding Responsibility - Part 5
They can make the most boring things interesting, if they just added some effort and creativity. They bought a new house, right? It would've been really fun if they had filmed walking through the contenders and (after the fact) did a series on picking a house in Boise. They could've reviewed the neighborhoods, walked through the decision making, etc. They wouldn't have to worry about privacy because they'd edit and release after purchasing.sasha186 wrote: ↑Wed Feb 13, 2019 8:46 am I'm not even sure what I want from these two at this point. They have had years and years of SO MANY opportunites that most viewers don't have. Traveling? Edit it well and show where you are going, give insight on everything, etc. If it means you have to edit a month after the fact and it isn't true "vlogging", it doesn't matter because it is quality footage.
I honestly think that they watched their former BFF's and got he impression that it was "be at the right place at the right time"-- aka true luck. It's more than that, I mean that is part of it, but like it or not the Daily Bumps worked to create an image and put thought into their brand. I honestly wonder if that was part of the fallout between the two-- these guys underestimating (and refusing to recognize) the work that would be involved in making money on YT. They think a pretty face is all it takes (when in reality, many of the biggest YT-ers are not the prettiest faces).
