Budgeting $80 for alcohol when you can’t pay your mortgage. I really have heard it all.

If they actually make it past the call screeners and end up on the show, it will surface online. They won’t be able to hide it.

Based on past calls, I’m almost positive that Dave advises paying the IRS first before other creditors. I just googled it to make sure, and sure enough, his advice is to put the IRS at the top of the debt snowball. For two reasons: their interest rates and penalties are so high, and they have virtually unlimited power to collect.

How can they claim to be “hard core” Dave Ramsey when they don’t seem to understand the basics?

They're not doing the total money makeover. They're just not. They need to stop claiming that they are.

Gazelle intense means that the extra 60 that they split between Christmas, Gaine's bday and Brooks's bday fund goes all to debt. Thats the entire point of it. Live with nothing until you get out of this situation and then you can do envelopes for restaurants and birthdays and alcohol.

If they actually pulled the kids out of school, hustled with brand deals, and cut their spending, they'd be out of this mess in no time.

I'm guessing they pull out of the Dave Ramsey thing because they don't want to face the truth about their finances. Why did they even contact his show producers if they don't want to really do the show?? If they do the show it will only be Cullen, because I really think Katie is too embarrassed about the situation.

They need to make a video about their TAXES for this year. They must be sweating about that......

I wonder about their tax situation with every video I watch. Are they prepared to cut a check for their yearly taxes? Do they file quarterly? What does their tax burden look like? The fact that they don't talk about it makes me worry they're not thinking about it.

Did anyone every watch the two loons on the channel debtisdum? They were gung-ho DR followers. Now not so much. Christine said they were over obsessed with his method. I bet they are back in debt these days.

Katie refuses to accept the fact that they are truly broke. Envelopes for entertainment, fun, eating out, alcohol, kid’s activities, holidays, etc. are for people who are budgeting while debt-free.

Her version of “gazelle intensity” is just letting Cullen sell off their stuff, buying frozen pre-made meals at Aldi, and not getting highlights. They can’t afford their monthly expenses, they owe the IRS, and they have something around $80K+ in debt. The only reason they have money left over at the end of the month is because they are not prioritizing paying off the debt. If they were really doing Dave Ramsey, it would be no frivolous expenses. No date nights, no restaurants, no alcohol, no gift baskets, no movie purchases, etc.

I know they’ve claimed they could make a couple thousand off the Suburban, but I doubt they’ve tried to sell it, and every month the value is depreciating. If they have a high interest rate (which they must with a $900 a month payment) I predict they will be underwater on that car soon, if they aren’t already.

I loved that Cullen shut her down when she wanted to take even more from the $800 theyre sending to the IRS.
He should have shut down the $60 she pulled already for Gaines, Brooks, and Christmas but at least he's started putting his foot down. I hope he didnt waver after the camera turned off. Maybe he's finally finding his voice and will keep shutting her down.

Katie is delusional. I have little doubt that Cullen doesnt realize how dire their situation is, but Katie just keeps justifying and excusing EVERYTHING.

Too late to edit, but I also wanted to add that I loved when Katie said she wanted to start an envelope for other birthdays and Cullen said "NO!" He went on to say they had enough things around the house they could gift. Cullen isn't my favorite and he has faults for sure but I was oddly proud of him for shutting that down.

I don't even think her yearning to start envelopes for birthdays and christmas for everyone comes from a desire to give gifts. It is just an excuse for her to fulfill her addiction to shopping and the instant gratification she gets from it.

I have been very open with my family regarding gifts for holidays and birthdays. We cannot afford to buy all of my siblings and all of their kids as well as my husbands whole family. Everyone is very understanding and they just don't give us gifts either. We have actually stopped all gift exchanges for Christmas on my side of them family and it is so much better!

They don't seem to understand how to apply all of the money they save from their budget toward debt.

I also do not understand why they have to dedicate so much money toward the kids for birthdays and Christmas. They are young and more likely to be thankful for simple gifts and laid back family parties. Why not start a new tradition and instill in the kids that they don't need 30 gifts under the tree and $1500 birthday parties. Just another example of how unchristian they really are. Teaching their kids to be obsessed with having more instead of appreciating what they have.

She has a rationalization for everything she wants, or Gaines wants. "Valentine's is important to us"(having a roof over your head is more important). "I need almond milk for health"(not really unless you are lactose intolerant) "The kids love Mexican night!" (So do it without margaritas, or even better, do it at home). I can't even imagine what the rationale is for $80/month in alcohol.
And she has the pretzel logic about daycare and getting jobs: we keep the kids in daycare because we work so hard, but we can't get jobs because that would mean being away from the kids and maybe missing some school performance or party.
I've said it before, so I am sorry for repeating myself: she wants to get out of debt without actually sacrificing anything. She wants to keep up appearances, keep the kids in daycare, and still get to go out and play and hold her head high at church. I wonder how many of the neighbors she cares so much about impressing watch the vlogs and see that it's all a facade?

And now they're isolated from Katie's family and none of their friends seem to be around anymore.
I seriously doubt that they will be going to the beach for spring break. They didn't go most of last year. Nor did they go to the Alabama games in the VIP box. That's been going on for a while. People just didn't notice.

Theyre not going anywhere for spring break, they talked about it when they discussed the fuel budget.


I didn't add up the gift card totals, and Im not rewatching, but Im pretty sure they had $200 in fuel GC, and then some at Walmart. The only reason they have $800 left to put towards the IRS bill is because of the gift cards, not because of their budget. So what happens when the gift cards are gone? Back to making only minimum payments. How can they not see that selling the suburban would free up $900 (more really with the fuel and insurance figured in) to throw at debt. With their current income and expenses theyre never going to get out of this, let alone get ahead.

Their claim that the problem is budgeting and not the actual amount is so false. The numbers they've given don't add up, and certainly don't give excess money to pay down debt.
They NEED additional jobs. And there is no reason they couldn't get one. Both of them.

The craziest part of all of this is all of the money they spent that put them in debt went to stupid clothes, eating out and junk for the kids. If only they has spent all of that money on renovations for the house maybe it would have sold already.

Why the fuck is Katie is using “spring break” to justify budgeting more for alcohol? She’s not an undergrad hitting up a resort, she’s a parent who’s going to be home for a week with the kids. If anything, they should be consuming LESS alcohol with the kids home 100% of the time.
They’re such shitty, selfish people.
