Keeping your children interested in their schoolwork IS your job, Ruby, especially concerning Eve & Russell. You are their TEACHER, so you need to reinforce what subjects they need to learn and devise teaching plans that make them want to learn. You can't just toss a workbook, spelling book, math book, etc. at them and expect them to be automatically interested. Your job as a parent and teacher is to help prepare them for the IRL world and so far you are failing miserably. While it's nice that Kevin does a Friday field trip with the kids, he should be working with Russell on his math too.

Homeschooling in Utah is basically "do whatever you want". You have to file an affidavit with the local school district stating your intent to homeschool, and that's it. You don't have to show that your kids are achieving any milestones, or teach any particular skills. If you want to teach basket weaving and jam making, it's up to you. Image

So at the end of the day do they get the same high school diploma a student who works their butt off staying on or above grade level gets?

That was my exact reaction too. Ruby either doesn't understand the basic mindset of young children, or she just doesn't care. Kids seek instant gratification, and don't understand the long-term payoff of something like school. It's absolutely absurd for her to expect Russell and Eve to be self-motivated. Then she has the nerve to justify her actions by claiming she picks interesing materials. We all saw that video where she was so proud of how she bought the most uninspiring, bare-bones typing program. If you don't like motivating your kids to learn, maybe send them to a physical school, where the staff are trained to keep your kids on track? Also, her method of cutting the peaches scared me. I thought she was going to slice her thumb open at any moment. Is there any reason to cut fruit that way besides showing off for the camera?

At this point I have given up all hope on Kevin. He's never going to educate his kids. He wants the easy way out, which is taking them on excursions. I think if he weren't Mormon he would have divorced Ruby and given her sole custody of all six kids.

Watching Ruby cut her peaches for a pie in her full hair and makeup and long earrings while talking about their perfect homeschool life that they are going to do forever just looks like such a sick facade to me. It's like she's constantly striving to look like the cover of a magazine when her life is nothing like that. She can't and doesn't cook. She's saying her kids want to homeschool forever only a month or two in to the year so that's what she's settled on, and now they'll be too afraid to tell her if that desire changes or they'll get punished for it and have to buy all their own things like Chad. Speaking of Chad, he's now shunted out of the picture because he defiles the perfect magazine-cover look Ruby is going for. The whole image of this video is just so fake and nauseating I don't know how anybody buys this crap.

Soon to be Dr. Ryan went after Ruby with his latest TikTok calling the 8 passenger kids the six prisoners and referred to how Ruby is filming their puberty, Dr. visits, etc negatively. He was averaging 30K views, but this one has well over 100K. His goal is to develop protection laws for YouTube children. I think he has a future to do this, but it is going to take time for him to complete his residency after med school that will help him accomplish this goal as a psychologist. I've been a little surprised the medical community hasn't looked at how YouTube impacts children who are filmed for the world to see and to think Katie has a Ph.D. I believe in child psychology has me shaking my head. :?

Please don't hate me for being incredible picky, but he's actually training to be a psychiatrist, not a psychologist. But either way, I agree, this is a topic that speclaist need to be looking at. I just think back to myself and how embarrassed I get when my family plays my childhood videos. Imagine it being online for the whole world to see. I get youtube gave them things they'd never have otherwise, but at what/whose expense.

And Ruby, if you wanna home school, and as a mother-home school or not-, its completely your job to keep the kids interested in learning. Learning can be so incredibly fun. She also needs to teach them that just because it's challenging, doesn't mean its not fun as well.

No hate at all. I was wrong. Thank you for the correction and it is actually not being incredible picky. :)

You don’t have to show any of their work to get the diploma, you can order those online at anytime. They don’t ask any questions. You just give your homeschool a name of your choosing and they print it off in the style you want. There are lots of options. But, if any of them want to go to college, that is when she’ll have to show the college all of their transcripts, ACT and SAT scores, so I hope for their sake she is keeping good records!

So I guess I get what Shari's school means when she says they say not to "blame" people for having the virus, as you don't want the whole school erupting against one person if they cause others to have to quarantine. But for her to say and put out on her platform that "the virus is gonna do what it's gonna do and you can't prevent it" is soooo irresponsible and dangerous. Actually, outside the Griffiths world, people ARE doing things to prevent the spread. Like wear a mask?? And in a house that big they could absolutely have quarantined the sick family members away from the healthy ones! They chose to be irresponsible with the precautions they took and they chose not to quarantine within their own family. It was not just inevitable that one of them would get it, or that the whole family would then get it. They are just lazy and irresponsible.

In the video posted today Shari posted that I can't help it if I get covid from other family members but you could have worn a mask when they were required and you could have self isolated for two weeks too. You should not be going to homecoming or go shopping for homecoming if your family members have covid. You need to be staying home and isolating for at least two weeks.

I'll defend them on this one. It is actually good, especially yellow cake with chocolate icing. It's something I crave once in awhile. Kind of reminds me of a bread pudding.

I haven't even finished watching todays vlog but I just have to comment because I'm honestly so mad with this family. There are SO MANY things that they could have done to try and minimise their risk such as wearing masks and social distancing, but as we've seen time and time again, they simply don't care. But I would at least think that if someone in your family tested positive, they would immediately isolate from the rest of the family. But no, we see Kevin in the kitchen, surrounded by family and in the music room, with Eve and Russell right next to him. Then Shari tests positive, and Ruby is right next to her filming. It's just so infuriating how little they care. I understand from the lack of masks that they really don't care about others, but I would think that they would at least try and protect their children from getting it. And to think that Ruby actually mentioned having them all drink from a cup so they could all just get it and be done with it. Joke or not, they have a large platform with a relatively young audience, and all they're doing is being a negative influence and downplaying the pandemic.
I've just never been so frustrated with a family before for being so careless. I'm from Melbourne, Australia, where we recently went through a pretty bad second wave where we saw cases reach 700+ daily and have had over 800 deaths. Since then, from 3rd August, we have had one of the strictest lockdowns in the world. I haven't worked in over two months, we haven't been allowed to travel more than 5km from our houses, haven't been able to see family and friends, masks are mandatory and until recently we've had a curfew from 8pm-5am. People who have family in regional Victoria can't even travel within their own state to see them, as we have a "ring of steel" around Melbourne, so people can't travel into regional Victoria, or they face a $5000 fine. This may seem excessive to some, but it has worked. We've gone from 2353 active cases to 289 active cases in a month. Instead of 700+ daily cases, we now have a 14 day rolling average of 11 cases per day. We do this not just for ourselves, but for those around us, and it makes me so made knowing that all us Melbournians are experiencing one of the toughest lockdowns in the world, while there are people like the Franke's who simply do not case and will continue to spread it. Although their carelessness may not directly affect those of us in Australia, it still means that more people are suffering and dying in the world, and it also means it will take longer for the world as a whole to recover. Please people, wear a mask and do the right thing.

Oh I am SURE GLAD getting Covid-19 is such a fun and wonderful experience for the Franke's!!!! Gotta get that vlog content!!

Ruby actually asked 'should we all like drink out of the same cup and try to get it?'

The mind BOGGLES with these fools. Homeschooling appears to have gone out the window too, even before they were all super sick.

Roaming all over town with no masks, making light of it, not caring about their impact on others, some ridiculous babbling from Shari saying after 10 days you're immune? What?! I'm genuinely blow away they're shocked they're sick? Like... what the freak did they think the virus does? Jesus wept.

I had to turn off I couldn't watch any more of this crap.

I get they're all in the same house and chances of spread is higher prior to knowing if you're positive or not, but like what the heck? Kevin knew he was positive and let Eve come near him in the piano room. No masks for shari or Kevin when they took Chad to get tested. Just no words. Edit: Same with Ruby! Shes in the room with Chad and (julie? I only heard the voice) and again no mask. Protect the family members who arent sick yet.

Edited to add more thoughts after finishing video

I turned it off after the laughing and joking around led to Ruby's "do we all share a communal cup and try to get sick?" So unless something changed drastically in their tone and approach to dealing with a virus that has killed literally over a million people worldwide in the past 8-9 months then I'm absolutely appalled. Actually, I'm appalled anyway.

I haven't watched the vlog, but they have over 500 dislikes in 4 hours. I hope this continues, but I REALLY hope people stop giving them views, and I wish people would contact their sponsors (or the do the sponsors watch?) so their income drops again. These people are SICK!
