Re: Cullen and Katie: Family of Four Pt #6
People freaking out over her in underwear, the Instagram pics, literally all you see is her back. If she was a boy would this be an issue? She is at an age where nothing has 'developed' (and she's far from it obviously) so theres no difference between her being topless with nothing showing. if people are concerned about pedophiles and what not, I'm pretty sure there would be other places to get 'content" . Like people, its a back, and legs, of a two year old. Get over it. It would be completely different if it was from the front, cause then I could understand "OMG inappropriate" and "she will be embarrassed in the future but seriously, nothing is shown. She's doing normal toddler stuff.

Even if you argue that she may not be embarrassed or harmed by it in any way, it's still completely unecessary. They didn't have to film it, put it in the vlog, draw attention with the tags, or post the pictures on instagram. If they want those cute memories they can keep them to themselves. There's no good reason to share those moments with potentially millions of people, and so the risks far outweigh any good.

They are showing the potty training process and chose to show her excitement getting the sticker, instragram photos I thought were cute, and would probably be something I would share (of my own kids). The tags drew no attention to it in my opinion, there was nothing drawing attention to it, no "half naked toddler" tag. Anyway we will have to agree to disagree and move on 'cause otherwise this could continue for several pages lol.RootBeerFloatie wrote:Even if you argue that she may not be embarrassed or harmed by it in any way, it's still completely unecessary. And just for your point about it being unnecessary, literally everything we do is unnecessary. YouTube is a want not a need, this forum is unnecessary but we choose to do it, most things we do are unnecessary but we still do it, that's just something they chose to do

Re: Cullen and Katie: Family of Four Pt #6
BINGO!!! People are only worried bc shes a girl, there is nothing in this vlog that someone couldnt see by going to their local pool. I totally understand protecting your child from pedophiles but ITS HER BACK!!! They arent showing her bare bum, or her front. I have this issue even with my 11 year old. She got in trouble at school for wearing a sleeveless (not a tank top, i'm talking 90% of her shoulder was covered the straps were at LEAST 2 inches wide) shirt, bc it sholder HER SHOULDERS.. there is NOTHING sexual about an 11 year old shoulders until you MAKE it into something. She was also "given a talking too" bc her bra strap slipped down and was showing out from under a short sleeved top, disciplined for a strap showing halfway down her arm!!! Needless to say i had a sit down with the principle about these things and we haven't had any issues since (and i do not let her were just anything to school, i'm pretty strict about that stuff, which is way i was upset when she got in trouble.) Point is, we make huge deals out of things we shouldn't when it comes to a toddler showing her back..Lurker4Life wrote:People freaking out over her in underwear, the Instagram pics, literally all you see is her back. And to answer someone's question. Yes, this would be the EXACT same if MG was a boy. Why? Because it's not about if MG is a boy or girl. That's not the issue. The issue is that these small children do not have a say about what is shown to thousands of people! Maybe MG didn't want this shown, and maybe she wouldn't care, but that's MG's choice. Not her parents. This could've been done in a way that protects MG's privacy, but that wouldn't generate as many views which means less $$. Cullen and Katie are not ignorant.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Family of Four Pt #6
I don't think you can really accuse someone of exploiting their child's body for money without looking at what else the couple of done, they have always seemed to have MG's best intentions, it would be different if it was another family and they always used and manipulated their kid for views, but you (well at least I) can see no maliciousness in it.imnottired wrote:eta property="og:video:tag" content="potty training">

And you say its not about gender, but when was anyone complaining about Ollie (DB) not wearing a shirt or just wearing a nappy in a vlog?
Honestly, at two, would you have cared if your family showed you being a normal toddler? Yes she might not have a say about it, but saying potty training videos 'exploits her' then should there never be videos even talking about your kid, cause you may say something that would upset them. By your standard, every parent in the world who ever posts something should have to wait for their child to age to even talk about their milestones, because (for example) that kid might be upset when they are 15 and found out they were a slow developer.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Family of Four Pt #6
I think there's a difference between posting a video about a kid walking for the first time and a kid potty training. I also think there's a difference between posting pictures on a personal Facebook account with family and friends, compared to a YouTube video with thousands of strangers.
I do not agree with the shit DB and E+J do at all. I hardly watch DB anymore (except for Missy's fail of a channel) and I don't watch E and J at all. The complete lack of safety baffles me. I can't speak for other people, but for me, it is the same. To me it isn't about gender, but it's about the safety of the child. I wish YouTube would put rules in place to protect the kids.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Family of Four Pt #6
Honestly, no. I think it's not cool to post little boys running around in just their underwear too. SlyFox Family used to be really bad about this. They filmed Caspian in just his underwear ALL the time, until finally they caught on that it wasn't the best idea. So, not trying to convince anyone, I'll agree to disagree on this. Just saying that it's not only because she's a girl. Oh, and I am not "freaking out". Just think it's inappropriate.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Family of Four Pt #6
There's no argument that makes posting private and sensitive videos of your child okay. It doesn't matter what their gender is, how old they are, what your intentions are, or if it's just adorable. If they're doing something private or something embarrassing, don't post it.
I don't understand how anyone can defend that, it's not like someone put guns to their heads and said you have to vlog every day no matter what's happening, and you can't cut out sensitive footage. It was their choice to expose their kids to strangers every day, and their choice to show things they probably should have. They could easily cut those things out and created footage to replace it with. They chose not to, which was a shitty, unjustifiable parenting move.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Family of Four Pt #6
So instead of showing their daily life on the daily vlog, what do you suggest they do while they are potty training? Just not vlog for a week? I guess thats an option, sure, but this is their income, their job.. I wouldn't expect them to stop working for week while they potty train. I guess i just like the honesty of C&K' vlogs, if they lay around the house all day, thats what we see. If they go have a fun day doing something with the kids then thats what we see as well. Potty training is what's going on in their life right now so thats what they are showing. I would rather see a few (hilarious) videos about them potty training than either no vlog at all or just pre made content (bc honestly what are they going to do for premade content? Challenge videos?)

I don't know, that's up for them to figure out. Go to the park, do a craft project, get a real job? Making a buck exposing private and embarrassing moments in your child's life isn't something I'd be comfortable with personally, but I guess not everyone gives a shit.

Exactly. It's a 12 minute vlog out of 24 hours. They could've figured out something else.RootBeerFloatie wrote:I don't know, that's up for them to figure out. Re: Cullen and Katie: Family of Four Pt #6
Cullen and Katie are being as respectful with these vlogs as they can be. They're potty training, everyone knows what to expect from a vlog like that. They don't show Gaines sitting on the toilet, like some youtubers. You see her in underwear and how different is that from a bathing suit? I don't see anything wrong with these vlogs, they're funny and interesting.
This isn't usually a nit- picky forum like DB or E&J, and it's annoying to see two wonderful parents getting hate for the littlest reasons.

Re: Cullen and Katie: Family of Four Pt #6
But all the back and forth (and I admit I have definitely put in my two cents) is getting a bit redundant. We're not going to convince each other. Can we agree to disagree? I don't think Cullen and Katie are bad people, or bad parents. I think this is a bit questionable. That's all. Discussion is great, but it seems like people are getting hot under the collar. I'm not a mod, so feel free to ignore me on this.

I doubt the pee on the floor would be an embarrassment later in life. What potty training toddler did not pee on the floor.RootBeerFloatie wrote:Sure as an adult that wouldn't bother you because you know that at that age everyone has accidents and potty trains, but don't you think as a 13 year old in school she'd be incredibly mortified knowing her classmates or boys/girls she likes can easily find those videos? Is it not disturbing that complete strangers, possibly predators, can watch her grow up every day and easily search her address online? How easy would it be to go up to a five year old kid and convince them that you're a friend of Mommy and Daddy's when you know so much about her and the family?
The dangers and selfishness of daily family vlogging go so far imo, and potty training videos are just the tip of the iceberg. But even if they manage to stay completely safe and she grows up healthy and well adjusted, you can't possibly tell me that a preteen/teenage girl won't be embarrassed and/or ridiculed over the new panties and peeing on the floor.

Anyone who is seriously embarrassed by things they did as a toddler or young child that every other kid did at that age has other self-esteem issues.
