Rule of thumb is, if you wouldn't show yourself in a certain situation (on the potty, in just your UNDERWEAR, in the bath) then perhaps you should show your child the same respect. ESPECIALLY if your audience isn't just family and friends, but instead an audience of over 400,000 people. It's called common sense and a lot of these family vloggers truly seem to lack that. I completely understand that they vlog their daily lives, HOWEVER, we don't need to see everything. They don't show or talk about when they use the bathroom or when they shower, so why show or talk about it when their kids do it?

I know most people don't like the Daily Bumps but I truly respect that they haven't ever shown ollie on the potty or even really talked about it at all. These kids are afforded little to no privacy, and it's just like at least give them some in this particular area of life.

As far as the tags, it makes me want to vomit. Can we stop calling them panties first of all!? They are underwear. Children's underwear. And by no means am I sexualizing a child in just underwear or on the potty.. because I'm not a pedophile or a weirdo, but I promise you there are at least a handful of weirdo's who are. I understand that they are going to look and sexualize the child regardless of what they are wearing or doing, but why make it any easier!?
Their (DB) "Pooping with Dinosaurs" video... they have shown him on the potty. Near the end of this specific video, actually.
I just we back and watched it. I don't know why I never saw that. I don't understand why these vloggers think that something that is okay to show!
Yeah, I was just about to comment the same thing. There were comments in the DB thread about that one vlog, especially because they showed Ollie on the potty as their thumbnail. This was around the time E&J had thumbnail of Jackson and his cousins in the tub. DB are far from saints in not showing Ollie on the potty.

I don't really understand why they are pushing it this early and expecting it to work so quick. Like you said she JUST turned 2 and they also just had a baby. They shouldve did this at like 2 1/2 and i think they may have had more success in the 3 day training.

Personal but i know a woman that loves to push her kids to do everything "early" even when they arent ready. She tried to potty train her daughter as soon as she turned 2 and she had accidents alllllll the time until she turned 3..

I think that maybe, and I doubt they will admit it, they got a bit cocky since they are constantly told Gaines is so advanced. She picked up a sleeping schedule since she was a newborn, she does well with school and not crying when dropped off, you explain things to her and she picks it up, she can do that iPod puzzle, she somewhat knows the letter and numbers, and her speech is pretty good. So I think they got a bit cocky and thought this would be like everything else, especially since she pooped twice in the potty.
Personal, but my daughter is two month older then Gaines, she is basically potty trained for the house but is too scared of public bathrooms. I still put pull-ups on her when we go out and at bed time. I don't think I could ever do the three day potty training rule. It seems stressful for the child and parent.
If Gaines was showing interest, they should of followed her lead but not expect that it will only take three days. We are still training a month after first interest was shown.

They are lucky Gaines shows so much interest in the potty and has been doing so well. My son refuses the potty and acts scared of it and he is 2 months from turning 3!

I'm also from the south in Georgia and that's what my family has always called it. Panties for girls and underwear for boys. We call them "big girl panties" and "big boy underwear" in my family.

Adding to that ^ I don't like that he used panties as a tag, I agree that was a little much. Just defending his use of the word panty. I know some people just don't like that word though.

Yep, Texas chiming in, they're panties here, and to our relatives in Mississippi as well. But when I was growing up in the midwest, they were "underwear," and panties were lacy silky things for grown up ladies. Kids felt uncomfortable even saying the word.

I have no problem with the potty training vlogs from C&K. It could be much worse. They're daily vloggers... Pottytraining is what they've been up to. I definitely wouldn't have wanted to see Gaines on the potty and am glad they didn't go that route.

When I was in about the fifth grade, I was shocked to discover that all my classmates had been pottytrained over a period of weeks, and had been given candy as rewards for going in the potty. I rode my bike home from school super-fast that day to inform my folks they were the worst parents EVER for having pottytrained me over the course of about 4 days with... Spankings. Lol.

I guess knowing that it wasn't socially acceptable anymore (and that I had a big mouth), they changed their ways. My younger siblings got Skittles for using the potty, lol. Took them much longer though!

I understand she was showing signs of being ready. She's their first, and maybe they were just excited about it. It's thrilling to be done with diapers. I was just wondering if anyone else had gotten the same idea that they really thought she'd be done in three days. The comment about how they're always being told how advanced she is and we're surprised that she didn't get it right away sounds pretty spot on And I'm also surprised that they're doing it this soon after Brooks being born. And that they're doing it before getting rid of the binky. Dr Google says average age is 29 months for girls. I can't do the "training my kid" story because of my daughter having special needs. Gaines definitely has a good start though. She'll get it.

I think it definitely crossed their minds that with her being generally advanced, and showing independent interest, Gaines was at least likely to do well with accelerated training. They also had a ton of people commenting their own various techniques and anecdotes, and may have felt they'd be scrutinized for taking a lackadaisical approach because of Katie's educational background. And I'm sure it was pleasing to think the whole mess could be done with so quickly by following a system.

Personally I'm not convinced that spending three days with a whole family focused on potty training is necessarily the best thing. Gaines seems fine, but I could imagine some kids getting a complex about it. The "bootcamp" approach is fine for healthy eating, exercise, and other adult pursuits, but I don't think two year olds really understand the "three days to a new you" philosophy. Strikes me as a gimmick to sell books (by the author/publisher, I'm not blaming C&K for buying into it), something that would appeal to adult parents who just want to get it over with.

I do still think Gaines will in general finish potty training pretty quickly. She seems to really hate the feel of "mistakes" in her undies and gets upset on a personal level (not because a parent is upset or inconvenienced), which are good indicators that this is indeed the right time and it won't take a year.

That is more than I ever thought to write about somebody else's child's potty training!

I'm not sure how to explain it but I just love when Gaines lays down on her tummy and just puts her head down randomly like she did on the water play mat thing. It's so cute.

Hey guys. I found some tags on a video from C&K that was uploaded recently in the past. I did double check with a mod about where to post these, and because of how touchy the situation is concerning tags like these, it was recommended to post in the "members only" section. So I posted it there under one of the existing topics.

(I did ask if it was okay to post this in the C&K thread, and I was told it was fine.)

Calling them panties is not a big deal at all. Y'all need to chill! She got new panties with her favorite characters on them--OF COURSE they're in the tags--it's part of the dang videos. Y'all are turning an innocent thing into something it's not. Cullen didn't do that to attract perverts, and I don't think he should change the way he's doing it at all. They're doing this whole potty training thing on YouTube mountains better than any of the others I've seen. Chillllllllllllllllll. Rant over!

I know a family whose blog I read used the three-day-method for both their kids really successfully - they posted about it with the first one herehttp://thespohrsaremultiplying.com/fami ... z4LmtF8mev (warning: if you go into the living with loss tag you will end up crying, they have had some awful stuff happen to them) BUT they potty trained their kids around the time they turned 3, not right after they turned 2. While Gaines does seem ready to some extent I think they are pushing this method a bit early for it to fully work the way it is supposed to

It's very clear they never potty trained him. It was Missy's parents who did most of that work when they'd have Ollie fir a few days

Just wondering what your thoughts are on this. I know that they don't really promote the PO Box, but I have always thought it's weird to send stuff to people I don't really know who have more money than me. But showing stuff that they've been sent encourages people to send more. They usually do a non monetized video thanking people, right? I can't remember the term-- private? I admit, they handle it pretty well. But people sending all the personalized stuff makes it hard to donate.Image
