Bonnie grew up the same way . They made their own zip line many years ago and used it and the parents just sat and watched and laughed

Well Jared showed them how to do it, right? He jumped out of the tree house onto the trampoline a few weeks ago. So if adults are doing it, of course kids are going to imitate.

Did anyone catch what Cody said to Olivia in today's vlog? The look on her face as she said "why would you say that out loud?!" was hilarious!

Linc looked so content after his bottle. I see why it would be discouraging, but if supplementing with formula helps your baby grow nice and strong that's the goal.

A few videos ago Bonnie bragged about Lincoln sleeping 10 hours a night and she showed him still fussing after feeding.

Today at the doctor it showed he was below the 2nd % in weight and not getting enough calories. She tried to justify it saying he seemed content, I disagree just from the clip of him fussing after the feeding and her saying he always acted like that. Anyone else?

And you very specifically hear the doctor say to "add a couple of feedings a day" and Bonnie says "give him A bottle before bed."

Urghhhhhh. Never commented on a Bonnie vlog before but it really irked me how quick that doctor was to suggest a bottle of formula. Maybe she just shouldn't let him sleep for 10 hours straight?!

I don't think she means he sleeps for 10 hours straight. I don't remember the exact timeline, but it was mentioned in a previous vlog. There were feelings during that 10 hour stretch.

She said at the beginning of today's vlog that the past 2 nights he was up "all night" but before that he was sleeping 10 hours in a row.

Yes, I heard that. But I don't think she meant 10 hours in a row, as per her previous vlog. She went into more detail with it on there. It was more like he would go down at a certain time, wake to feed, back to bed and wake up for the day 10 hours after he was first put to bed.

Actually, no she didn't.

She said that the last time she updated she said he was sleeping 10 hours. She said he did that 4 nights straight and then stopped.

Misleads are huge here. People see/hear what they want.

I hope people watch Bonnie's vlogs and decide for themselves rather than just read here and go off it.

The vlog I watched showed a remarkably well adjusted mother that managed to take her 4 kids to the doctors without any help. She was sad when the doctor suggested FORMULA, but realized it was best for Linc and even called Joel to tell him how much more content he seemed. That to me made it sound like they knew and recognized there was a problem lately. Bonnie realized it was all about Linc and gave him the bottle willingly. How many other mothers would resist that and kill themselves trying to nurse better?

Right, but of course the haters are going to say Bonnie agreed to the bottle feeding out of laziness Image.

She isn't giving him a bottle out of laziness at all. Bonnie follows Babywise, poor weight gain is a side effect of BW.

My opinion obviously.

The older Babywise that has been discussed here though, and the newer method that she has described are very different. Most sleep training methods have the same foundation as Babywise. Routine, baby laid down awake, feeding when baby wakes, etc.

It was alleged here before that Bonnie was laying him down in his crib and letting him cry through the night. We saw a few updates from her where it became apparent that just wasn't the case.

I doubt most BFing mothers would decide to give their children a bottle of formula knowing they can just add an extra nursing session. It sounded to me like Bonnie realized because of the fussiness that he might not be getting enough.

We will have to agree to disagree.

To be clear, I am not opposed to supplementing with formula. It just wouldn't be the first thing I tried. The part of the conversation that we heard in the doctor's office just seems really quick to jump to formula.

I'm not going to judge Bonnie a bit for giving her baby formula, or for not realizing sooner he wasn't getting enough to eat. This mom stuff is HARD and she's doing her best just like the rest of us. Certainly not trying to starve her baby or anything. I think even though she was sad and disappointed that she had to start supplementing, she handled it pretty well. A lot of moms (probably myself included) would be a mess.

I think it's interesting Bonnie says she feeds him every 2-3 hours, because that's not what she has said in vlogs. Remember when he was barely a week old and she let him go for ten hours without eating? And the other time she said she feeds him and he still cries for more, but she won't feed him more?

I'm glad the doctor is making her supplement.

I also think she needs to be on the baby's schedule instead of forcing him into her plan, whatever that is....

Yes, he did, but Bonnie is the parent here. Four year olds shouldn't tell their parents, I'm gonna jump off this treehouse onto the trampoline, and then the parent lets them do it. That's not how it works.

I'll give her a pass on the feedings; even if she's letting him sleep too much I don't think she's purposefully starving him. That being said we'll have to see how eager and willing she is to get him the rest of those calories. If she continues with no change then yeah, that's a problem, but I'll give her the chance to change before I judge.

Also agree about the trampoline thing--kids imitate adults, yeah, but common sense says hey let's not let my young child do extremely dangerous trampoline stunts just because he saw Uncle Jared do it.

How is she going to deal with the Babywise criticism?

I think people are failing to hear the part where Bonnie has been nursing him more often, and that he just wasn't getting enough. It's easy for some, and not easy for others. Isn't this the same situation Ellie had? No one told her to wake Jackson up more. No one criticized her formula use. Honestly, I think she was better in some ways then because at least she wasn't as frustrated, moody and exhausted as she is now.

Honestly, BFing is ridiculously hard. No matter what you do you aren't doing it right. Half these people commenting are reacting to her use of formula. She's doing what's best for Linc and that's also what's best for the family.
